I would like to see Angry Joe become a permanent fixture here on the Escapist. He strikes me as the type who has a good head on his shoulders and his heart in the right place.

Or possibly, The Escapist could look into guest contributors. It's a format that works quite well in the show Have I Got News For You. Even if it would be a pain in the bum to organise.

Personally, the last thing I want to see is more white people talking about the same shitty games that the other sites are talking about.
One of the things that really bothers me is that we continually get this white-washed (and I mean this literally) brand of political correct gaming commentary being pushed by the major sites. Everything's always from the perspective of a college educated, middle class, white hipster. Occasionally they will be gay, which these days is like basically putting on a hat and pretending to be different. (Sorry, but the western world, while not perfect, no longer runs in terror from homosexuals or trans people).
Why not get a black guy like Event Status who is into video games, particularly fighting video games. I actually like his angry black man rants (maybe it's because I grew up in detroit) but no one ever talks about fighting games or the fighting game circuit.
Also, what the hell is going on with competitive e-sports? Why are none of the major sites pushing this at all? I can go over to Kotaku or Polygon and read 20 articles about why I am a terrible person for oppressing white women on the internet (despite not being white, or particularly interested in oppressing people) but I see almost zero coverage of any e-sports or tournaments.
Not even repackaged news.
Finally, how come all the game design commentary we get is always fucking narrative. Like always. Most of it is sophistic in nature, or just down right banal crap like misapplied film theory that completely ignores the fact that games are actually mostly LUDOLOGY and not narratology. Sure, it's probably easier for plebs to grasp some half baked concepts that "sound good" (see most of Extra Credits), but any first year humanities student will come up with a lot of the same bollox.

How about we get some Lets-play person or team? For a gaming website (at least that's what I consider it) there aren't a lot of games in the gaming videos.

I heard someone mention Super Bunnyhop. He's possibly my favourite reviewer and his viewership isn't really big so if he were featured on The Escapist I think it'd boost his career a lot.

Very true. Not only that, his personality and views on the industry are why he left. I don't think they'll be looking to replace him, just add some other random Youtube celeb to fill the void. Of course, I don't quite agree with getting someone to "replace" Jim. But having someone else onboard to bring in their own brand of content in his wake sounds like a great idea to me. Here's a few thoughts:
AlphaOmegaSin - He's entertaining to watch and listen to. He's got strong opinions and presents them with a lot of bite. His rants are just great to watch, and he produces them pretty frequently. I'd love to see him produce more kind of gaming content as well. Hell, I'd love to read any written reviews he'd have to offer. But, as it's been said earlier, I doubt he would take any attempts to stifle his content and opinions lightly. He'd be a great pick, but I doubt he would take it.
SuperBunnyHop - An underrated as hell reviewer and content creator. He really does make some of the most thoughtful and well researched videos I've seen on youtube. I also love his somewhat deadpan demeanor but that's just me. His viewership is somewhat small at the moment, but I believe he truly does have all the makings of a successful content producer and I think having him onboard as an official Escapist staff would be great for his career. And he'd make a great balance to Yahtzee too.
EventStatus - Might be a long shot. But I'd love to see this guy get more viewers. He's fierce, much more so than anyone in this site was, and in a lot more serious and critical manner. He researches topics carefully, presents his evidence, and makes his cases in a simple format, but the guy is absolutely merciless and puts specific people on blast like nobody else does. Some of his content is FGC focused, and would be a unique addition, and he's got an eye on competitive gaming as a whole. But I can see him being a controversial pick because of his strong stances. But personally, I think being confronted with the facts in a serious manner, whether or not we want to hear it, is healthy. Although I doubt he would accept it because he's stated multiple times that he's refused to partner himself with a lot of sites in order to be independent (Maybe he just hasn't gotten the right offer?) and he's been strongly critical of the Escapist in the past.
Maximillian Dood - I'd say Max is a 100% likeable youtube personality, and what makes him unique is his strong focus on Fighting Game content. Something that, afaik, is completely missing from the Escapist. So why not? It would be a good chance to bring in some lively discussion to the Escapist in regard to fighting games, because quite frankly, those kinds of discussions are almost non-existent here. Giving the Escapist a bit more niche attention from the FGC, I think, could help it move forward and gain a bit more popularity - And perhaps even pave the way to some serious competitive gaming coverage?
YongYea - For being a youtuber, this guy is an incredible source of news. A better source of news than a lot of major gaming news sites, and even does a lot better job of analyzing and commenting on news than most major sites do. While most gaming news sites do your standard game coverages on press releases, he goes far beyond that and pieces together more in-depth and insightful news from often ignored sources - Such as developer livestreams, twitter discussions, and international publications. He does a fantastic job of presenting a lot of information to those who are hungry for it, and he tends to be one of the first people to do so. I think he'd be a great asset as far as breaking news goes. He's got a somewhat sizeable following, is a genuinely likable guy, and he produces quality content.
These are my picks as to who I'd like to see on the Escapist. Others like TB and Boogie, I think wouldn't accept being a part of the Escapist since they're probably doing well enough independently.
