If the Escapist wanted to keep the same amount of content as they had before Jim left then they'd need to fill 2 weekly and 1 fortnightly video slot. What I'd like to see is: The Escapist reviving an old series, maybe Top Five or Reel Physics alongside bringing in a brand new source of talent to keep the freshness up.
I honestly think it would take a " crew" of people to even attempt to fill his slot. That was why I suggested "a group" of people instead of an individual.

I would like to see Angry Joe become a permanent fixture here on the Escapist. He strikes me as the type who has a good head on his shoulders and his heart in the right place.

I would like to see Lisa Foiles back on, given the heavy goings on in the gaming world - she'd be perfect for putting a smile back on people's faces.

Or possibly, The Escapist could look into guest contributors. It's a format that works quite well in the show Have I Got News For You. Even if it would be a pain in the bum to organise.
If they gave Angry Joe a short 5-10 minute a week gaming show here I'd love it. His opinions really align well with me and he's really fun at presenting. I'd like him to keep doing his video reviews and content on YouTube but I'd really just enjoy a rambling/opinions show from him.

Also his characters are actually decent, unlike Jim's haha.

I'll admit Angry Joe's opinions are also quite similar to mine. Though given his propensity to rant for ages against the dickishness of publishers while suggesting ways they can act better might take him just over the 5-10 minute limit. (Though I'd watch it! :D)

But like you, I didn't like Jim's brand of comedy very much. I can't remember which episode it was, but when Jim started playing around with the dragon dildo, I lost a lot of respect for him. The whole thing was embarrassing to sit through and I couldn't help but think "this guy wants to be a consumer advocate?" while staring at the screen aghast though cracks in my fingers.

I know Jim fools around, but if he wants to be seen a responsible consumer rights advocate, he should act like one.

Yeah I didn't really like the dildo episodes. Towards the end I found Jim got quite condescending as a voice for the people and was often just taking a moral high ground. I think Joe is a lot better for that stuff and his passion and love for games comes through a lot more than Jim's in my opinion. Jim got into the habit of talking down to his argument but I just get all the emotions come through from Joe which is why I like him. He's genuinely extremely passionate about games.

I actually like his character work too. It's very basic but it's fun and I prefer it more than Bob's horrible attempts at characters.

Oh boy, I thought I managed to block Bob's characters out of my memory. I can now remember the amount of flak he caught for it during his Game Overthinker stuff. On that note, weren't people banned for telling Bob to get rid of the comic-esque segments of his show? (Man, they were toe-curlingly embarrassing)

Oddly enough, I remember people on here on the Escapist getting banned for telling Jim that his show was awful because of his ego and condescending attitude. Though I don't think such a editorial policies were doing Jim any favours on the grounds they turned the comments section into Jim's praise only echo chamber.

But toward the end, I think Jim's main problem is that the editors didn't try to put the brakes on him until it was too late. Emboldened by the comments section full of flattery by saying "Thank God for you, Jim." It was only going to be a matter of time before Jim decided to pull off an Eric Cartman and say "Screw you guys, I'm going home" when being told to reign himself in a bit or to stop biting the hand that feeds him.

But when all's said and done - I do wish Jim well as a freelancer. But I have a horrible feeling that quitting the Escapist won't do him any favours in the long run. I kinda hope I'm wrong on this one, though. :)

Miracle of Sound, and Zero Punctuation are what's keeping me here. I have a feeling Game Theory will leave just like Extra Credits. I do wish Extra Credits came back, and if This site even shuts I will have to be back at Gamespot (Shudder, shudder)

Angry Joe is someone's who will not have a review for 2 months or 2 a week. Not a good replacement.

Greg Tito will never allow any GGers unless it's Total Biscuit, and even that's a maybe, we know he is somewhat influenced via emails by you know who...

If we get a anti GGer, lots of people will leave.
" You should realize that regardless of if you get an anti gg or a pro gg, people will leave. Touching anything to do with GG at all is toxic for or against and there will be people extremely unhappy with it. I personally don't think Total biscuit is good and have no idea what people see in him. LOL

Jim >> total biscuit. He was actually funny. "

Total Biscuit Is serious about gamergate, games, and is the kind of person that listens to both sides even if his best friend was on one side. All the other prominent anti-gamergate, and I will admit some creepy paste, and Hacker far right, and a random Brazilian gamer website are like the US congress. Trying to cash in on the situation to write the most childish, and hyperbole filled mud slinging piece they call a article. Jim was friends with Leigh, and did not think that the SAME thing Gamergaters hate(Anti consumer, kiss butt(Be they far left social activist or game corporation)

The reason people think gamergate is toxic is because they don't research both sides just like the Palestinan conflict.(EX. The beginning, the censorship, the demonization, attacking, and outnumbering a poltically accepted targets in their area)

That is not why people think it is toxic, the reason why people think it is toxic is they watched it unfold from the beginning and have been here the whole time watching it and are sick of it.

You could not be farther from the truth, they know what it is, saw it start and are choosing to stay away from it and the people associated with it because of the toxicity of gamer gate itself.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.858347-Zoe-Quinn-and-the-surrounding-controversy

The people who think it is toxic, didn't show up late to the show, they have been here the whole time. "Not researched" LOL no.. that isn't the reason. Often you find many of those associated with gamer gate are the ones who have not researched this. It is a mess, half the time they do not even know who is on the boycott lists and why.

People should understand know your meme and Youtube are not sources. LOL
BBC news is a source.

How about we get some Lets-play person or team? For a gaming website (at least that's what I consider it) there aren't a lot of games in the gaming videos.
You noticed that too huh? as a whole The Escapist seems to be covering less and less games and more of the other 4 subsections of the website.

It just seems that the people in charge/interested in/writing for those sections are much more active, and the guy in charge of the gaming news isn't... as much.
