roboute guilleman, the Ultramarine primarch is even more badass. he killed Alpharius, Primarch of the Alpha Legion AND he created the Codex Astartes. and even tho he was stabbed in the neck with a poisoned sword by Fulgrim, he survived by going into statis. and hes healing.
Or did he...
he did kill alpharius. with the Gaunlets of Ultramar to the face. POW!
Have you read Legion in the Horus Heresy series?
have you considered the book isnt right. the books are based upon events from the Horus Heresy, id didnt make it.
Actually the Horus Heresy series of books is writing what happened. They are to be taken as the truth as they need to get them checked by GW HQ before they can say anything. Seriously if you havn't read them then you need to - it is still ongoing but Legion by Dan Abnet gives some pretty big secrets about the alpha legion and Mechanicus by Graham McNeil shows huge implications about the emperor and his objectives.

Leman Russ beat The Emperor in a drinking contest.
Considering how powerful the primarch's (and the Emperor's) metabolisms are, I'm surprised that drinking contest ever ended. They didn't need to sleep, they could eat ROCKS, and they're immune to most poisons. How the HELL did they get drunk?

The Emperor.

yeah, the emperor can be the best space marine, but he is more a "god"

I would say Sanguinius, just because I play blood angels

Dan Abnett wrote 2 of them. It is a series chronicalling the Horus Heresy and the events at that time from different perspectives (i.e Luna Wolves, death guard, imperial guard. These have been written by several authors (meaning that it is not too long a wait for the next one. These books are not only awesome reads but are not fluff either, i.e. what they say goes.

He defeated an avatar of the Eldar war god in single-handed combat, held a gate for a day and a night against an Ork horde ALONE and led the assault against a Tyranid Hive Ship. He is Chapter Master of the Ultramarines and Lord of Macragge. And total fucking badass.
All of which is canceled out by the utterly silliness of his tiny, tiny head.

AND he's got a serious case of the headtubes. Which is like the herpes of 40k.

...yep I know I'm gonna be flamed but honestly the best space marine right here. Otherwise though I'd go with Ellen Ripley.
he isnt a space marine, he isnt wearing any armor, he doesnt have balls, he isnt suposed to even be on a battle field, he is treated as a god, whereas he should be treated as a regular person, the tidalwave of shit that disqualifies Master Chief from this list is so huge as to not be remotely funny, and that isnt even counting the fact that we already desided he isnt allowed

... and there came the flaming. I knew it, yet I said it anyway.

Okay for starters are you blind? He is clearly wearing armour as that's all you can see? Second.. no balls? That's something a thirteen year old says about a guy in High school who picks on him, I can't imagine you actuall having a personal grudge against a fictional character so I'll disregard that. He is clearly meant to be on the battlefield as he was part of a program that bred him and others like him soley for the sake of BEING a super soldier with no other purpose EXCEPT the battlefield (Vrex sighed at the depth of nerdiness in that statement). Next up please explain how he is treated like a god, he is considered a super powerful highly trained soldier as that's what he is... in fact these days people like you flaming with misguided attempts at insults are much more common so the idea that he 'is reated as god' is absurd. He shouldn't really be treated like a normal person either as he's a video game character not a person.. a video game character who does Marine-like activities usually in Space... *gasp* like a SPACE MARINE. So where is this tidalwave of shit that disqualifies him exactly? Finally if he wasn't allowed on this list I said Ellen Ripley as a secondary. So if my opinion offended you so deeply then ignore it instead pretend I said Ripley. Sorry if I didn't realise he wasn't allowed in this thread I must have missed the board meeting.

Note: However if you don't think he's the greatest marine and disagree then I can respect that, however you can't just spam my post with ridiculous statements without expecting some kind of reaction.
he is shown with armor, but the game doesnt treat him as though he has armor. and only pussies need full body combat armor, or Gears of War snipers. and we banned MC a while ago

I'm not even sure that Star Trek (or Star Wars, for that matter (edit: I have found a refernce to marines in Star Wars, according to the [url-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_marine]space marine wiki[/url])) has anything that would constitute a 'marine' in the context we are talking about.
There are specialized commandos in Enterprise, with rifles and body armor and their own command structure. They're basically filling the classic "marine" role (you can't really talk about whether someone is filling the modern American "Marine" role when there are only a few squads of them).

Fenrisian Ale the only alcohol strong enough to get a space marine drunk

Bjorn the Fell Handed for someone that was a bog standard marine at one point

That's what I was going to say.

And I do love Halo, but please nobody say Master Chief. He is not a Marine. He is in the Navy, I guess he might be a SEAL (since he's combat, not a regular sailor)
