And QQ'ing already? One of us works to earn his money and tries to get the most for it. The other is willing to pay twice more than necessary in order to be able to join in the hype and discuss the game with his e-friends. Again, a fool and his money...
I dunno, it's pretty fun to have that social aspect of gaming. I say whatever floats your boat.

You say games don't deteriorate with age, but in a way they do. In 1.5 years, Skyrim's not going to be as impressive compared to everything else as it is today.
I'd say it's the other way around for a Bethesada game, just because of the modding community. Morrowind was a pretty good game made much better by mods. Oblivion was a pretty okay game, also made much better by mods. That's why I'm waiting on Skyrim until I have A) 20-50 hours to kill, and B) lots and lots of mods for it.
I guess that's different, because I'm a console player, so I couldn't really care less about the mods or the mod community.

But nevermind that...if you're only anticipating playing Skyrim for "20-50 hours".....at that point it's like why bother? 20 hours would be like...10% of the game.

Less than that, even, if quests are procedurally generated :) It's a "will I have time to enjoy this now, and come back to it every now and then?" sort of thing.

Wish I could, but I am a dirty fanboy. I just have to live with a bugged-to-fucking-hell game until then I guess.

Yup. They will hopefully have patched the shit out of it by then fixing the game wrecking glitches and bugs that plague Beth titles.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm assuming the GOTY edition will give me the full benefit of the DLC, plus the time to fix the bugs.

assuming I get it. I'm still undecided.

No, i'm getting it for £30 next week.
Can't be bothered to wait over a year and a half for it.
Might buy the dlc when it's on sale or i'll sell the game to my cousin when GOTY comes out.

By definition if they are releasing further content you're not getting the whole experience without it. Yes, the complete experience is there for now but it wont stay that way for long.
Please go watch the escapist podcast on Day 1 dlc, basically they all agree you are completely wrong. Skyrim is done, its a finish product and its being sold right now, its not "half a game" without the DLC. All the DLC are completely optional, add nothing to the story and are just extras, if you dont want them then dont buy them. Its perfectly fine to want to wait to save money, but you make it sound like you should be entitled to it and that its part of the game your missing out on, which is wrong.
No. I don't give a crap what someone says on a podcast. It doesn't change the fact that they're still really poor value for money even if they aren't part of the game (which I still maintain is garbage). I wont be buying them until they're at rock bottom prices, DLC as a concept can go fuck itself.
Meh. Stubbornness isn't a virtue. You're just determined to be miserable about the whole thing. Doesn't complaining so much just make you tired?

nah forget that, i could be dead in a year and i've been looking foward to skyrim. So far the game is incredible and living up to my expectations and id willingly pay 20 extra dollars no problem. No game breaking bugs and 1 crash in about 40 hours so far. Also as a regular visitor to this site, the chances that i mistakingly spoil something in the game for myself by reading other threads over the course of the next year would be to great a risk and thus lower my overall enjoyment when i finaly did play it.

It's better than trying to convince myself that everything is fine when it isn't. And no, no it doesn't, if the industry does something that I don't agree with (i.e. DLC) I just don't bother partaking in it.
So you dont agree with companies selling you extra entirely optional content? Ya some companies do the Day 1 dlc rather badly, but with Oblivion they did it quite well. The horse armor mistake is well known, and has been talked about tons, but Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine were well made and definatly worth the money, Shivering Isles in particular since there was so much content.

Also ya..unnecessary hosility is unnecessary.

For those who are going to wait for the GOTY edition, I seriously admire your patience.
For me, I just couldn't wait.
But not being able to wait was still worth it.

No I don't agree with it, the fact it's optional carries no weight to me. Even the likes of shivering isles aren't good value, it's just not worth an additional 20% on the purchase price, you could buy another entire game on steam for that. Like dlc, my posts are optional, if you don't like them, don't read them.
I'm so glad I have a more open mind and a willingness to, you know, enjoy stuff. Is your bedroom painted black?

What you would call being "open minded", I would call having a lack of standards and being easily amused.
Sure beats having arbitrary "standards" and being all grumpy and shit.

God no. It was good enough to warrant the $6 rental charge, but $60? No way. With how poorly Bethesda handled the physics and how many glitches i've encountered, i'm not buying it.
