Kyle Dunnigan.

I don't know if he's done anything other than his Comedy Central Presents stand up, but Fuck It! He's gotta be one of the funniest comedians I've ever seen.

I don't quite see how some people can interpret Yahtzee as a comedian. He is funny, granted, and he probably wouldn't do too badly as a comedian but he is still just an internet based game reviewer.

Having a sharp sense of humour and being a full blown comedian are two seperate things.

Russel Brand...or not.

Bill Bailey is probably my favourite, Dara O'Braian (or however its spelt) is pretty good, too.

Frankie Boyle without a shadow of a doubt.

Chris Rock is there too. Heard the bit about rap music.

Ricky Gervais is funny when he's not being a self-concious ass-hole. His Fame tour was hilarious.

Oh, and Monty Python. Those guys are just inspired!

Frankie for PM!

Eddie Izzard has a habit of ruining people for all other comedians. His rambling style is amazing. I know several people (myself included) who overused "so, yeah" after listening to him for a while.

I grew up on Carlin. He was a real eye-opener- not only really fucking funny, but also thought-provoking for my young teenage self back in the day. I distinctly remember watching one of his acts on YouTube... it was very strange, something he did in his later years I believe. He started off talking about the guys lounging in their armchairs and went off on a (not kidding) five minute long, detailed description of the causality of the end of the world, then came back to the dawn of man and evolution and how life itself was cyclical in nature and... I wish I could describe it better, but it was amazing. Halfway through, I was all, "christ, he's really turned into a bitter old bastard, hasn't he?" but then there was this ridiculously hopeful ending to the bit and... I dunno, it really struck me.

...

And also, Robin Williams' Broadway act. :D

I'd have to say the late George Carlin, but a close second is Christopher Titus. If you haven't heard of him, look him up. This man is the guru emotional trauma and making it hilarious.

Behind those start the procession of the greats who fall just short of legend in my mind: Lewis Black, Mitch Hedburg, Katt Williams, and others mentioned on the above posts.

Seriously though, Titus is one of those guys who'll make you either laugh till you cry, or just cry. If you've gone through some serious shit in your life, you know that "normal people freak out when the shit hits the fan; screwed up people, we step to the side of the fan."

There's been a lot of votes for Eddie Izzard. I've never really seen much by him, but after this, I think I'll try and watch some his material.

Hmmm... I've aways prefered the british comedians, so my top 3 would be:

1. Dara O'Brian
2. Frank Bowol (not sure it that was spelt right, he's on mock the week)
3. Bill Bailey- he's just plain odd.

Its Boyle. And thats pretty much the same as mine, except Russell Brand instead of Bill Bailey, he would be forth.

Oh and Dan Cook is absolutely UNFUNNY. His routine is he says something, people don't laugh so he says it again they still don't laugh so he falls down.
