I don't know. Maybe zak snyder. Watchmen was fantastic to look at. The action, the characters, everything.
I'd say that had more to do with the original graphic novel being awesome than Snyder's directing skills.

As for my own favourite? Pretty much in love with Mike Leigh's films. Especially 'Naked', it's seriously brilliant.
How the hell does the comic affect the look of the movie? That was Snyder all the way.

Because the film is pretty much a shot for shot remake of the comic.
So? It's still because of Snyder it looks so damn good. Are beautiful scenes from Lord of the Rings movies only because of the book when a scene is identical to the book?

So many good directors have already been said, so I'm just going to say one that hasn't been said yet.
Sam Remi the directer of the Evil Dead trilogy, and the Spidermen series.

I am not really sure if that was sarcastic or not. However, I will just assume that what you said is what you meant. So, no problem it was my pleasure. If it was sarcasm, let me say that I enjoy Tim Burton, just his earlier stuff. His last great work, I believe (and trust me a lot of people will disagree with this one), was in 1996. I haven't really enjoyed anything else, that is to say I don't own them and I never intend to. That is why you enjoyed one, but not the other, a noticeable lack in quality as years have passed. Or at least that is my opinion.
No, no sarcasm. I agree that his best work was during and before 1996. The only new work of his I enjoy is Sweeney Todd. Though I am very curious of Alice in Wonderland.

Tim Burton didn't direct The Nightmare Before Christmas. That is why it worked and The Corpse Bride did not.

Quentin Tarantino, the man has not made a bad movie.
I haven't seen it, but I heard Deathproof wasn't very good. What did you think of it? I like everything I've seen from Tarantino so far, but there's still more I have to get my hands on.

As for me, I like a lot of the Coen Brother's movies, David Fincher, Terry Gilliam, and Tim Burton's older movies - recently he's done very little that I liked.
Dude, I loved Death Proof it was planet terror that didn't do it for me though. I reckon Planet Terror is over-rated and death proof is under-rated. Just my opinion though

Michael Mann. (HEAT, Ali, The Aviator (producer), Collateral, Public enemies)

The man does action movies, they are good, the have plots, and brains. His films are exciting. He is the anti-Bay. If I could erase Michael Bay from history I would, without hesitation, his mere presence ruins entire franchises. Explosions do not make a film exciting, just loud and predicatable hick baiting trash.

aside from the Mann man, Sir Ridley Scott (Alein, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Black Hawk down), John Carpenter (The Thing) and James Cameron (Terminator,Aliens, T2 let's not mention Titanic...)
You took the words right out of my mouth pal. The Mann is, well, the man.

Although you did not mention Last of the Mohicans in that list. *frowns* I do so love that film. I havent got around to seeing Public Enemies yet, is it every inch as awesome as the trailers make it look?

Also, I actually didn't hate Miami Vice! Does this make me a super Micheal Mann fan?

Quentin Tarantino.

The only movie he has made that wasn't really good was Death Proof and that was supposed to be a B movie thriller

Inglourious Basterds has reaffirmed my love of Tarantino films, so definitely Quentin Tarantino.

Tarantino. Except when he starts talking. He's an insufferable egotist in interviews. True, he has the good films to back up whatever he says, but what he says is normally inane and unhelpful.

Probably Quentin Tarantino.
His movies are almost always a treat to watch, with the exception of Deathproof, which was more than a bit crap.

Tarantino and Smith. I've seen a lot of movies and enjoy a lot of directors' styles, but I find myself coming back and rediscovering QT and Kevin Smith's movies most often.

Did you know that their are only 4 secret herbs and spices, the other seven are products they pass off as 'herbs and spices' to absorb more fat.
