Damn right I'm a metal fan and no-one is gonna say anything about it. I mostly like goregrind and other extreme metal, along with some folk and power metal. Carcass and Windir are currently my 2 favorite bands. Im sad because i've never been to a single show. The scene here is too small for most bands, 'cept Rotting Christ, to bother coming here. I've seen some tiny local show though. I also seem to like alot of NSBM for some reason, especially Absurd and Kroda.

Sure I like metal. Opeth is my favorite band of all time, and probably the only bad in the world, I don't feel bad about spending fortune on the tickets for both concert, and train if the concert is on the other side of the country.

Other bands I like are Paradise Lost, Anathema, Riverside (mild metal), Arch Enemy, Behemoth (a bit heavier metal [not to confuse with heavy metal]) and Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden etc. (classical metal)

I like Stoner metal, industrial (the more organic side, not the programmed stuff), and shoegaze metal.

Obscure enough, I suppose. I've never really liked death metal, black metal, trash metal or any of that. Just some Sabbath-esque doom grind.

I'd have to say I fit into about the same category. I love "heavy" music. "Heavy" meaning the music and atmosphere have a weight to them. Never really been a fan of any of the genres of metal that put an emphasis on speed.

Favorites would be Godflesh, Jesu, and Earth. Unsane is alright too, I have their Lambhouse collection.

EDIT: Forgot Swans, I'm just getting into them right now. Trying to listen to new bands here and there when I have the money (yes, I am one of those weird people who buy music)

I used to be into the heavier / deathy stuff, but lately I can't stand it if the entire song is growling, so I've been on a quest to find some great metal with clean(er) vocals. Currently playing the new Shadows Fall, Five Finger Death Punch, Society's Plague, Mutiny Within, Divine Heresy and Devildriver.

Not really. Most metal bands take themselves waaaaay too seriously, it gets ridiculous. Especially when a lot of them have really fucking stupid names like 'Cannibal Corpse' and 'Cradle of Filth.' Another one I saw when scrolling through the comments was 'Rotting Christ.' Seriously? What a joke! My all-time most hated metal band is Apocalyptica. I thought they were a parody band at first, then saw that they were actually serious. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Sure, all metal players have pretty phenomenal technique but I just think it sounds so stupid. My favorite music has groove, cool rhythms and is just plain, old-fashioned FUN.
