I tried Myst. I never touched it again. More due to my own incapacity to do a puzzle game than any actual fault of it.

Yeah.. I remember it vividly. Puzzle games are not my cup of tea, but that could have been an exception back in the days when I was younger and so hardcore I had enough patience for anything I got my hands on. Think I played the second one and got a glimpse of the second. They had one of them on the school computer too, though I naturally do not remember which. I tried the first game not too long ago, and I didn't have patience anywhere near what I would have needed to conjure. Awesome games in themselves though. The atmosphere especially.

Seeing this thread about Myst reminded me of Zork and how wonderful Zork was. Does anyone remember Zork? Return to Zork had the most evil game item of all history: the Bonding Plant.

I'm sorry, I lost my track of thought. What were we talking about?

I HAD the first Myst, but I never got to play it because my computer didn't support it or something :*(

Has anyone tried realMyst: Interactive 3D Edition ? I guess you can walk around in real-time and there's weather effects, etc.

Me, it was awesome! Completely worth playing even if you already beat the originall.

I remember the Myst series. My dad used to play it when I was 10 years.

The players guide for Myst was like reading an adventure book through the first person, which I thought was clever.

I only played the original Myst, and loved it, but I think the real question is who remembers PYST?

I really need to play through Myst V again - I can barely remember anything about it now.

Haha! Yes! I remember this game. I remember my friend's older brother had it, back when we were about 5. I remember him (friend's brother) telling us it was the BLUE BOOK at the end. I remember going back home, to my dad's save, and losing the game for him. Good times.

Now that I think of it, why why does no one like Uru? Again, it was my favorite, and I dabbled in the MMO for a while (the most rebooted MMO of all time, I think, I'll join when it reboots AGAIN). It seems that it's almost fashionable to shun the little hybrid that pushed fantasy into a realistic setting, but that's what I LIKED about it.
I liked Uru, too. Especially Gahreesan. (Spell that right?) That place is very possibly my favourite of all the ages, second perhaps to Riven. Crazy stuff.

Uru just kind of interrupted the stream by having a 3PS interface, is all. People don't like change. I didn't mind it so much. It prepared me for a world of FPSs/3PSs. Uru is, however, kind of necessary to the story if someone intends to play Myst V. Myst V picks up at almost the exact moment Uru ends.

I never got the Uru expansion but I heard it was rubbish.
It's only rubbish if you're a twitch jockey (Although I WILL complain about the stand-around-picking-your-nose puzzle).

I dunno. Maybe it's just me oozing nostalgia, but I miss those games. Am I alone?
I remember when Myst came out, but never played it. I always regretted it, because it looked beautiful and I'd heard it was hard and I like a challenge. I think, due to it's age, Myst is always going to remain in that category of games - I wish I had and now I can't.

Surprisingly, I've not found Myst hard to get a copy of in the modern age; I've seen it a good number of places. I've only played 1-3, but I have to say they're in a class by themselves.
