Just watched an episode.
I just realised what I really hate about it. They always seem to act like if the game industry does whatever they say the world will be saved and everything will be happy and good. It annoys me.
Yes, it's called having an opinion.
An incredibly pretentious and self praising opinion.
They have some good points, yes, but they need to stop saying "Once this happens, we'll be seeing a lot of better stuff!" because we probably wouldn't.

I still watch, it but like a lot of folk the shine was taken off it by the whole debacle. The tit for tat-ing really annoyed me and I think EC came out of it looking worse than the Escapist in the end. We don't know whoe was right, we don't know who was wrong, but they didn't do themselves any favours

Big thanks to everyone who still keeps up with us! I know it's been kinda turbulent with all the moving around and such, so thanks for bearing with us. It means a lot. :)

I still watch it but if it wasn't for that video they upload each week on YouTube that shows up in my subscription box I'd probably forget to do so.

A few weeks before the shit hit the fan I had actually stopped watching Extra Credits. I was never really 100% on board to begin with and I was really surprised by how The Escapist seemed to explode when they left. It wasn't a bad show by any means I just wasn't invested and I haven't been interested enough to check them out on Youtube.

I prefer the Penny Arcade ones.
Sure, it's not as intuitive as Youtube, but it's much more sophisticated.

Keep going with things EC, I'll watch them no matter what.

Right, because why would they have any ideas about how to improve the medium? Because they work in it? Pfft.

Why should we bother trying to make it better? We'll probably fail anyway.

Never liked the show. I thought it was naive to the point of being childish. It was a show a teenager that just learned about some new concept would write just to show off that he knew about it.

So no. I saw like two episodes on the escapist and never again.

I love Extra Credits and I'm sorry to see the Escapist lose them, but following them to another site is easy and their show is still just as great as ever.

Yeah, of course. Even if I disagree with their opinions, I still find that their videos can cause me to question the reasoning of some of my views, if not change them. I hate the 30 second ads though.

Eh, don't feel like checking Penny Arcade just for EC. Never truly "liked" EC, they made interesting points but I felt they were usually too pretentious. Sometimes I just want to bash a guy's head off with a shovel, not explore the deeper roots of humanity and what makes society tick. I do enough of that in class and during dinner conversations.

THANK YOU!
My internet is none too reliable, and as a result it has been a while since I have been on the site. Imagine my confusion when I log on today and I can't seem to find extra credits anywhere.

I loyaly watch Zero puntuation. I find five minuites of internet somewhere so I can watch it every week. When I actually have surfing time however, the other two things I watch are extra credits and unskipable. I caught up on unskipable today (and even stsrted watching movie bob for the first time) but couldn't figure out why there was no Extra Credit links anywhere.

Penny Arcade you say? never heard of it but will high tail it over there right now. Thanks again.

Also...why did they leave us?
It's a very long story that begins when the EC crew decided to ask us, the viewers, to donate money for Allison's shoulder surgery.

It's convoluted but here's the gist:

The Escapist claims that the excess funds from the fundraiser should have been donated back into the site in order to better EC.

The EC crew decided to use the money to help start up their own indie game studio (a righteous cause!) and because of this The Escapist and the EC crew got into a long conflict that eventually led to the EC crew leaving The Escapist and eventually winding up on Penny Arcade.

It's a shame really. Such a great partnership ended over what amounts to a misunderstanding. Ah well, at least we still get Extra Credits right?

No I don't still watch EC has nothing to do with it changing sites more to do with myself having less time at the moment so I will watch it eventually.

I still watch it and I will watch it for as long as they maintain this level of quality. Bit of a fanboy I am...

Got to say I'm with Dorian on this one. Sure it can sometimes seem big headed to assume what they say would immediately save gaming but that's a side effect of being passionate and idealistic, 2 traits missing from the AAA games industry a lot these days. If you want something to be better you can't just leave it as it is you have to come up with ideas and create debate on the subject, only through that can anything be improved.

You seem to forget this is something the guys at Extra Credits and probalby every developer talks about ALL THE TIME, they don't just go "hmm we need an episode I'll make up some bs in 5 minutes" as games designers they thirst to drive the medium forward just like the first film makers who were "increidbly pretentious" for wanting to leave confines of film studios and film on real locations.

Not me.

Yeah I watched them when they were here just to hear a different opinion. After they left? I couldn't be bothered to go look for them. Since they are at Penny Arcade now (nothing against the website), I don't feel like going to a website that I next to never visit just for a show that I'm lukewarm about.

I followed it to youtube, followed it to PA. I like the show, it's good. Where they host it doesn't really matter to me.
Pretty much this, but I'll be happy when Allison gets back to drawing though.
