Almost every movie based game in existence. Most of them are so bad, that there is just no reason for them to exist.

Pretty much every game that gets released with a movie. "watch the movie, play the game" ....why? you know what's going to happen next and the graphics look twice as crap. o_O

Disney are the worst for this...however Lord of the Rings games where alright i guess.

Who decided to not let you move your characters in battle in Final Fantasy 13? Who decided to not let Fallout 3 characters follow you down ledges? Who decided to make the world of Red Faction Guerrilla empty? Who decided to make Soul Caliber Legends so repetitive and boring? The list goes on and on.

Not giving the AT weapons and grenade launchers correct arming distances in videogames...

The most commonly used 40mm grenades has an arming distance of 14-28 meters instead of the less common 2-3 meters of the M381 and M441 grenades. The reason the 2-3 meter arming distance is not used is because its so unsafe! And having 40mm's in videogames with 14 meter arming distance (at least) would make players use the GL the way it was ment, and not as a shotgun of sorts... (well, not to enter a building, you have that assault rifle on top of your GL for a reason, not just to look good!)

The AT4 has an arming distance of 10 meters. Meaning shooting the weapon in the ground right infront of you shouldn't kill you OR the person trying to knife/shotgun you! It's so stupid!

Now, the ERYX missile (which is the one used in BF2) has an arming distance of 50 meters... 50 meters! It's fucking retarded... Why can't games at least take a few simple steps to cut down on the use of AT weapons and GLs in CQB... It doesn't take much.

Now, the standard 5.56 round used in rifles such as the M4 and M16 easily penetrate kevlar... Wait, I was talking about arming distances... Well, enough then. I think you get what I mean.
This, some simple tweaks and gl would become a strategic choice in Mw2 instead of being instant win. Thank you for posting the data.

Im pretty sure we've all felt this at one point or another, that point where we put the controller down and just say to ourselves "Who the hell thought that was a good idea!?"
My most recent one would have to be Tekken 6, I love that game, the fighting is some of the best I have ever seen, but there is one problem, that problem is called Azazel.

Who the fuck thought Azazel was a good idea?! Who looked at the production of this game and said to themselves
"Lets see this guy can deal crazy amounts of damage, doesn't take as much damage, is faster than he should be, and can ignore most of the players attacks. People will love him!"

Anyway my ranting aside escapists, please share your stories of frustration with idiotic game ideas
He's worse than most of the Tekken Bosses - but easier than Jinpachi! Remember that move, which was almost instantaneous, where lightning comes out of his hand and you're stunned for about 5 seconds? It even brought you to the floor if you were Devil Jin and in the middle of a flying move. Don't even get me started on his minor teleport move and ranged unblockable (which could be combined). Oh yeah - and if he wasn't quite happy with his first fireball, he could instantly do it again. Grrr!
Oh, don't get me started on that bastard. The amount of times it took me to kill that bugger with Lei...

The card games were amazing - same goes for Blitzball. They should release a collection of mini-games on one disc - there are so many FF fans that it would definitely sell =)
I always thourhgt they should've released Blitzball as a table top game, similar to Games Workshops Blood Bowl.
Could work - it is already very numbers-based, after all. Although presumably in the table top game, the maths would be actually worked out, and not just sort of randomly generated =P
If games like FIFA and Madden sell, I'm sure Blitzball would do at least reasonably well lol

Ninja Gaiden.

That game just bends you over and shouts "Take it! Take you little *****!"
I could only get as far as the fifth level or whatever level the cliff side is and there was this one spot where I couldn't reach because the cliff wall in front of me was in the way of an unreachable platform I was suppose to jump on.

One for myself is The Warriors XBLA game. Even in normal mode if your playing on your own good luck because you get ganged up on very much. Also there are these moments that happen in every level where you got to knock out this one lone gang member or else a hoard of them show up and your pretty much fucked.

Personally I hated Tekken 6. It started off well but the game refused to show me the characters back-stories or endings (no I don't know why) fighting Jin was a nightmare, I only managed to beat the final boss (who came right the fuck out of nowhere) once and the story mode, including the prologues) took at least 15 minutes to get started.

Not releasing Mother 3 in America.
This. Mother 3 was amazing and would make so much money for whichever system they released it on, although I suppose they do have "some" justification for not localizing it (using about 5 copyrighted music tracks that I can think of, for example).

OT: Who the hell thought that taking the chainsaw Sora was originally supposed to use for the Kingdom Hearts series and turning it into giant key was cool!?...because they were right.

DJ fucking Atomica in Burnout Paradise, who pays you out when you lose races.

Hey, fuck you buddy, as if my blood pressure wasn't high enough as it is.
One better.
Who the hell thought it was a good idea to make a Burnout game without crash junctions. What were they thinking? "Hey, let's make the Burnout franchise like every other driving game out there."

One more:
Who thought gas pumping, picking up litter, and carrying coconuts were good minigames on the wii.
You know what game I'm talking about.

Aaand you just described the "boss" of Dead or Alive 4. Only you forgot that she teleport spams, can pull off 10-hit combos with surprising ease, speed and repetition and can avoid/counter 80% of your attacks.

Stupid Navi

Lost Oddesy, making the first few boss battles absolute jerkoffs to beat. Althoug you get extreme satisfaction by beating them... Its still majotly annoying having to grind and still do everything perfect.

The level cap of 20 in Fallout 3, i was just getting into that game, when i hit my level cap, and i still felt underpowered.
The enemies in Fallout 3 is hard from 15 to 30 but not so hard that you feel underpowered but I also have some wierd skill that makes anything that's a RPG RPS or anything close to that piss easy

The "Pull the Star Destroyer out of the sky" part in Force Unleashed. Not only did i spend like an hour trying to figure what was going on, and another hour trying to "use" the broken control scheme before finally finished it.

HOW did that section get past play testing? EVERYONE who played it had problems with that part. That part alone brought down the overall score of the game by 10-20%. it still boggles my mind that after all that hype, media, promotion, care taken to the revolutionary new particle physics and behavior engines, NO ONE noticed that part before release! It wasn't even very late in the game.

That's actually pretty common, for older games in particular. I saw it a lot in my Capcom Classic Collection and it didn't even have any Megaman games.

Dawn Of War gripes: No heavy weapon teams for the Guard in Dawn Of War. I know people who play tabletop Guard who don't even bother shooting with their lasguns unless it's a block of fifty goddamned Conscripts. Infantry squads are about the heavy weapon team and the dude with the special weapon. No fortifications for magic buttons in Dawn of War 2, which means an offline game is just a merry-go-round as the AI opponent is an opprotunistic little bastard who knows where all the buttons are and how heavily they are defended (and to hell with the fog of war). Finally SPESS MAHREENS, although GW did make the MAHREENS loose Soulstorm as a way of saying 'sorry, we should have learned our lesson with Firewarrior and kept Relic on a short leash. With a spiked choke chain. Which was electrified'.

Maybe I'm being cynical but it's almost like any game dev in the history of games will do as little work as they can get away with unless someone's breathing down their necks the entire time. This explains why most games based on previously created copywrited material; be it a book, comic, movie, tabletop game, or whatever are generally peices of garbage.

Play ArmA 2. All of your complaints are addressed. They have correct arming distances, real world ballistics, realistic rocket tracking for guided AT weapons (Javelin and its Eastern counterpart), and a host of other realistic feature. If you aren't familiar with ArmA 2, it's based on Virtual Battle Space 2 - real military training software. In fact, it's just a port of the training software with some tweaks to allow for a compaign.

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead, the standalone expansion, is slated for release this June and it has evern MORE features such as FLIR, removable rucksacks for equipment exchange between players, more realistic interfaces for guided weapons (such as the Javelin), and a host of other neat goodies.

If you aren't familiar with it, you should check it out! You will happily see that your grievances with common FPS games are either negligable or don't exist at all in ArmA 2!
