Devil May Cry 4. Nero is cool and has a deamon hand, then halfway thru the game you start over as Dante. Its exactly the same, but less abilities. Makes no sense to me.
And all the sexism, you know. A demon-frog with lesbian antenna-thingies. Seriously. WTF
Whoa Whoa Whoa!! Since when does Dante have less abilities than Nero? Dante has 3 melee weapons, each with its own set of moves and combos; 3 ranged weapons, each with its own set of charge attacks and moves; and 4 styles (plus 1 at the end) that you can switch on the fly, each with its own style move and different moves to accommodate each of the weapons almost.

Nero might be easier to play, but Dante was a lot more fun, especially for the DMC veterans.

[sub](Sorry about that outburst...I've been a bit DMC crazy as of late, playing them all again and going through DMC4 somemore on my PC..so ya... T_T)[/sub]

Super Mario Bros 2. Not the real Super Mario Bros 2 released in Japan, but the game the rest of the world knows as the one where you go around picking up vegetables and stuff.
Yeah really!! Other than hitting stuff, the vegetables were bloody useless and served no purpose! I don't know, they made a lot of weird decisions for that game.

Most of CoD MW2.

No SDK for Far Cry 2.

Unskippable cutscenes. Especially before a hard bit or boss fight. Thats just poor design guys.

As is the lack of instant save and still having loading screens. This ain't the 80s, I have shit to do bitches.

Realistic shooters that aren't, you know, realistic.

No R18+ rating in Australia. FFS!

Making me paying up to double price just because we have better beaches and hotter chicks than you. Even on Steam. I mean WTF?

No dedicated servers or mod capabilities.

WTF is this DLC shit? $20 for 5 maps. Give me a break. 5 years ago I would've gotten 20 maps, 10 guns and a lap-dance from a reasonable classy stripper for half that price (or for free!!!)

Let me make my own god-damn maps! The titles that have/had longevity and real communities existed because people could build their own shit, mod those games till kingdom come, and run servers just for their clan (ie: CounterStrike, CoD4, HalfLife). I don't want to wait 6 months for some DLC rip-off horse-shit, I want some 12 year old no-body to create a map that is actually fresh and exciting. I want nerdy high-schoolers to build a zombie mode for your game. I want to sit down to a frag-sesh with people I know. Let us enjoy our games like we used to dammit!

Oh, and local multiplayer (as in splitscreen). WTF happened to that? PC's aren't consoles, consoles aren't PC's.
Well said...I recently went to the effort of getting 7 friends over, 2 tv's, 2 xboxes, 2 copies of games etc., only to find that you can't do 4v4 system link on Modern Warfare 2. Needless to say, was heartbroken. Halo 3 has it for God's sake! Why would you not include that as a feature? It's quite obviously a multiplayer game. /rant

Halo's Library level. That actually got me to quit playing the game all together and hate it.
For some reason I love that level, give me a shotgun and pistol and I can blow past it no problem, now Truth and Reconciliation(the 3rd level) on legendary was such a pain in the ass it wasn't funny.

OT: How you can screw yourself over on Oblivion if you level wrong, and how most the premade classes will make it damn hard in the later part of the game, I really liked the Fallout 3 leveling system though.

Devil May Cry 2. The entire game.

Any game with blatantly physically impossible button mappings. This is only amplified when people refuse to actually look at the goddamn controller and try to tell me this is not the case.

Too Human. Again the entire game.

Bullet Witch...Why was this game ever released?

Mass Effect 1 and 2 UI design. The designer is really a moron. Especially when it comes to the second game. Using Amber/Bronze and off-white, it was if he or she was actively trying to blind players.

Turning Dark Sector into a game that uses a Gears of War style game where it is physically impossible to turn and use Melee fluidly because of button mapping. *See second point.

The Witcher's complete lack of a fast travel button.

Halo 3:ODST Why make the HUD yellow? Eyestrain city.

Bayonetta not having the ability to block, coupled with the fact that most bosses are the size of houses or skyscrapers. The game quickly degenerates into a mashing fest because you only ever have one correct answer when presented with the question of what to do during an encounter. Attack. When you find out about the Kilgore exploit your combo choice becomes exactly one pppk. It's the most effective way to actually survive since that exploit does such massive damage. At least in Ninja Gaiden the on-land charge exploit still requires you to think about setting it up etc.

Finite inventory space in RPGs. They don't do anything to make the game a more pleasant experience. Just let us carry our crap. The one time it's acceptable is if they need to limit healing items. But take Dragon Age, for example, when you're already allowed to carry hundreds of potions. The only things the finite inventory accomplishes are making you spend money on backpacks and forcing you to spend a half hour cleaning up after every adventure.

Every RPG should have a bottomless inventory and more sorting options than MS Excel. Stop intentionally trying to make your game less fun.
I think that's a terrible idea. One of my favourite things to do in an RPG, like fallout 3 or oblivion, is go on long quests away from settlements and gather tons of loot, only to find I can't take it all and have to agonize over what to keep and what to drop. It would also give you way too much money if you could just take everything and sell it, which would break the economy system.

OT: Resource scanning in Mass Effect 2. That was pretty much the only flaw in that game, but god damn was it a big one.

Putting any kind of game on a disc that requires the disc to be used every time you want to play.
SCRATCHES are bastards and when you/your friends/your console/Al Gore ruin one of your games you either have to pay to get the scratch removed (usually by burning a layer or two off the disc) or straight up buy the game again!!!
Lets go back to the cartridge age (or at least make me a portal to an alternate dimension where discs are indestructible, please).

I'd have to agree with the OP about Azael in Tekken 6.
I would also have to say that fucked up dice rolling thing in Devil May Cry 4.
Making Snake and Sonic (the big parts of the promotion) for SSBB only unlockable after a fucktonne of playime.
Sega Allstars Racing. Seriously!? Sonic. In a car? couldn't he maybe run, since that is all the little blue tosser can actually do.

I think you're pretty much alone in actually enjoying tedious inventory management. And if you're allowed to carry more items, the game can always just lower the average value of each item.

Massive corporations controlling the game's industry. And requiring you to have permanent internet connection to play C&C 4 singleplayer.
I will expand on this by adding:

WHO THE HELL THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO REMOVE BASE BUILDING AND HARVESTING IN A C&C GAME??????!!!!!
I actually no longer consider C&C 4 part of the saga. I got to the acceptance stage and didn't look back. Now it gathers dust on my hard drive and occasionally forces me to update the thing. In Red Alert 3 building turrets in enemy ground followed by 2 dozen russian pillboxes was half the fun.
Neither do I. EA ruined C&C4 so bad. At least Red Alert III was pretty good. It still had the RA feel of wacky characters, crazy science and TESLA POWER.
This is the exact reason that for all my stats like time played and units killed, 3/4 apply to the times I was playing as russia. Although the Kirov's made it a little too easy if you struck early enough. Now a fleet of Kirov's with vet status... the imbalance is worthy of its own analogy by Yahtzee.

Kirovs can be taken down by sufficient AA support though. If I'm Russia, and I see a bunch., I try to use Vacuum Imploder. xD. Seeing a warped Hindenburg Disaster via a singularity is at best freaking awesome!
I aim for the power stations, especially if my opponent is also Russia. Then we can have Chernobyl and Hindenburg both over enemy territory. Problem is that you don't get much of a fight after that...

Yeah... Super Reactor = Russias weak spot. xD
That's why you build them in allied territory as opposed to your own ;)
