If this has been done before I'm sorry.

If the fighting in the Warhammer 40K universe finally came to a close who do you think would be the overall victor?

Hmm, I suppose the Tau. I always had a soft spot for the emporer though.

Although aren't the necrons invincible?
Then tyranid have never lost a planet?
The Tau would need some kind of effective warp travel to win.

I think the only reason tyrannids have never lost a planet is because when they take a planet, it becomes a barren rock. There wouldnt be any point in retaking it.

Yeah thats probly gonna be true. I was just hoping some people would have proper answers. I remember asking someone that work at Gamesworkshop who would win. The guy first did his fanboy response of Eldar then a proper response of either Chaos or Necrons.

Eldar are more likely to "win" then chaos or necrons.

Orks will win though, far too numerous and powerful not too.

Tyranids. Y'can't tell how many more hive fleets are on there way (thank you DOW2 cutscenes).

Necrons never take more then one system at a time.

Tyrannids.

Nothing can stop their all consuming nom.
Yeah, like this one time they attacked the orks and got their ass beaten...

Dude NOBODY would be the victor. Chaos is stuck in their Eye of terror, Orks can't unite, Eldar are fucking around at the end of the Galaxy, Tau can't fly away from their segmentum cuz they've got only slow ass mini-coopers as space ships, Dark Eldar have only one city, and ecron can't wake up. And the Imperium is attacked by all so it has no time.

@all ppl who think that Tyranids will win: READ THIS [http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Kryptman]. This fella invented a good method to deal with the nids.

The Orks would only win if someone could manage to rally all the Orks together, right now they are seperated in different clans, then they would create an unstopable green tide.

They avoid Necrons like the plague.

Necrons complete the Great Warding, everyone else loses access to the warp, the hive mind stops working, etc.

Where did you read this?

EDIT: Chaos only has the chance to win if there would be another great Heresy in the Imperium, but this would probably cause the Emperor to die and be Reborn and Chaos would lose it's chance so it doesn't ven has one. They just don't have enough people and they fight each other all the time for food(yes they need food, all of them except plague marines, Khorne Berzerkers and rubric marines)

Orks would win. Being the most powerful phsyckers (sp?) and not realising, All they would need to do is, unlikely I know, band enough Orks together and just think people don't exist, and they won't. Like thinking red makes them go faster makes them go faster, thinking things don't exist should mean they wouldn't

Probably the Orks or Tyranids. They're the only one's with the numbers to pull it off.

It's been a whiles since I stopped playing, but I think according to the fluff there was a massive Tyranid fleet heading towards human space at one point. An Inquisitor managed to divert it by conducting exterminatus on a bunch of Imperial worlds and thereby wiping out the fleet's potential food supply along that route. Instead, the Nid's flew straight into and Ork Waaagh! and have been fighting each other endlessly ever since, with plenty of reinforcements arriving constantly for both sides.

Thing is, if either side ever actually won that war, then they'd be able to recoup their losses incredibly quickly (in an Ork win the blasted apart Orks spawn more Orks; in a Tyranid win there are plenty of dead Orks to eat and make new Tyranids with), and then will have an army of unholy proportions to march against Terra. All the other races are outnumbered and would soon fall, with possible exception of the Necrons in the event of an 'Nid win, since the 'Nids seem to be afraid of Necrons for some reason. Also, if the Orks win then Chaos will probably survive by retreating back into the Eye of Terror, which by being the only enemy stonghold left to the Orks apart from their own, will quickly come under assualt by perpetual waves of Waaaghs! and the two will battle again for all eternity.
The Orks would never attack Terra, for they respect the Emperor as the war gods of 'dem 'umiez. They would see it as evil to do this and they are not evil, they just fight for fun. One time Ghnazzkull had his arch-enemy commissar Yarrick caught and tortured but let him go because as he said:"good enemies are hard to find, you can't just throw them away".

EDIT: Yes, they are a deeing race, because they have no planets. They're the hobos of the galaxy.
