My friend Bill. Our group's Plan A when we get into trouble is to blame Bill. He doesn't mind and it makes for a great inside joke.

I would make for a horrible General - all throwin' people at a problem until I either run out or it gets solved.

Same with my friends, really.

It'd have to be my friend Matt. Always there when we need something done we don't want to do.

In my head, all your posts now have the voice of Zap Brannigan.

Aye I knew it comes from star trek, but I felt that particular quote was a very good sum up of the red shirt's role :)

-EDIT-
I remember one particular episode of TNG where you've got all the officers and one random unnamed person surrounded by surly aliens with disintegration guns. I could only say "Oh you poor bastard" as the aliens took aim.
one year the security for TorontoTrek, a fan run ST con, all wore red shirts and they had a target painted on the back and it said "security"

i'd have to say B Company, cookie for the very easy reference.
Bad company maybe? (teh durrz)

Anyway I would have to say a kid called James. He is R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D, I gave him some grass in a rolly and told him it was weed and when he smoked it we was all like "woah man Im so high right now, I bet if I get hit or something I won't feel it" so then I punched him in the face. (Note I may seem like an asshole but this kid is beyond annoying and stupid)

Wow, that's a much better strategy than throwing money at a problem.

Robots were invented for that purpose.
They're in Car factories because they do better jobs welding, don't need to be paid, and in the event that one douchebag Kuka [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KUKA] makes a mistake, no one complains about a Union or missing limb. UCAVs may be expensive to develop, but sure as heck they're cheaper to operate and train.
