Why all the hate on Halo?

The amount of people who say Halo is an atrocity to gaming is preposterous and I want to know why? I can understand Halo 3 but Halo was innovative console-wise, Halo 2 had a good storyline with the Arbiter, Halo 3 at least had great multiplayer and if you have all the backstory it's a great story. Now I don't know if I'm biased because my memories are rose tinted with the memory of me and my dad playing through co-operatively but I played through it recently played through it and loved every second.

People feel like the series is just riding on the first games coattails, and that it hasn't been revolutionary or even fresh in a while. Sometimes sequels need to be more than expansion packs with prettier graphics.

Most people think its "mediocre."

But back when the first halo came out there were no other shooters like it.

I can understand not likening it but a lot of people treat it like the anti crist.

sign.... move on please... just leave. its all opinion, most of the people here are one category of gamer. we do have a few exceptions, but a lot of people here are the 'games are art' hippy type like myself. i didn't mind any of the halos but again its just all opinion.

4: let everybody else tell you your cake is nasty and you opinion sucks. just go and enjoy it and don't bother with them. its their opinion and their taste in cake after all.

ok its a good game but it's not "THE BEST GAME EVER MADE!!!" like everyone seems to say it is, It did not prove an FPS could work on a console, Goldeneye did. And if it weren't for muti-player no one would really like it all that much.

Only an idiot would call halo a crap game. the first Halo was a lot of fun, and did sort of bring about the current craze in console FPS's.
Anyway why Halo, especially Halo 3, pisses me, and a lot of people, (i'm assuming) off is that its just you average shooter, well designed but nothing special. But microsoft keeps going on about Halo being "teh best game evah!!" and its not. It's a decent shooter, one of the better ones on any console, but there are loads more FPS's on consoles and PC that are better.

Don't ask people to explain their hatred of something. They'll either not know why, and just babble, or they'll spew forth venom that is intended to strike the hearts of the people who enjoy the game.

And this thread has been done to death, resurrected, and then done to redeath.

One more point, and then I'm finished.
Maybe, just maybe, people have differing opinions on what is good/bad, and of the different people, there are very vocal individuals.

I don't see any problems with it whatsoever, it's not knock your socks off perfection, but it's still well made. Very well balanced weapons, plenty of game modes, good online etc. And I don't see any reason for them to not have made Halo 3, it put them on the 360,and there's nothing wrong with that.

However I will say that they should have just stopped at Halo 3, it's got to the point where it's just milking.

All three of them have the properties for a supurb FPS. Halo:CE had an interesting single player, Halo 2 had fantastic multiplayer and multiple points of view in single, and Halo 3...had better multiplayer. As it stands, each one is "pretty good", but not fantastic.

I think it's hate mostly because there are people that say it's one of the greatest games. Those fanboys pretty much kill everything.
I like the Halo series a bit, but it's nothing special anymore, there are many other great shooter games out there.

Also, this topic has been done to death...we all have different opinions on which games we like. Some just express themselves with more anger.

It's a decent game, and when the first one came out it was something no one had really seen before. After that, however, the next to games were pretty much just oversized expansion packs with better graphics and a few new guns.
