I just think Halo is very mediocre. The first one was fun, but nothing totally amazing.

I thought that Halo 3 when I got it was going to be a pretty good game. It turns out that it was not as great as I suspected, not horrible, but really just not excellent. I never played it since I got through it once.

I like Halo 3. It's okay. Story was easy, so easy I could even solo Legendary. But the fanboys and hordes of little kids! I don't play the game to be an irate, self-centered, "hard-core". I play cuz I enjoy it. And when you take my joy away, I must have compensation. For example: tears. Sweet delicious tears.

Why all the hate? Because people keep insisting its a good game which offends me and all the good games.

Fanboys.
I liked the game. Hell, bought the third at midnight launch. I still like it but now everyone is just a rocket whore or a complete jerk which made me stop playing.

I play games mainly for the story. Halo's story is so convoluted that if you compared it to the Matrix movie trilogy, the Matrix looks like a simple minded action movie.

This is it. Right here. That's why every Halo since Halo 1 is mediocre at best.

And the sci-fi story is mediocre too. It isn't even in the same league as, say, Mass Effect's.

I don't like the game, you do.

That's why it's an opinion.

Most games, unless they're Superman 64 or that Aquaman game, have some sort of fan-base.

Popularity is why all the hate...look at the wii for christ sake!!!! *hides*
I think Halo is above average as for as story/fiction goes the first game is great, sorry the AI the weapons it just makes it a great shooter, the last 2 not so much.

You can complain about an action flick having a bad story all you want and god knows I do but its job is not to tell a story, its to blow stuff up, so anyone picking on Halo for story/character grounds don't know what they are talking about now AI and weapons for 2 and 3 being off....ya I can see that..

This is the best statement I have seen for halo EVER!!!!!!

Oh and I prefer Halos story over mass effect...... at least the dialog dose not trail off oddly half the time....

The reason for the hate (and the whole reason) is the Fanboys.

The fact that it's spawned ODST and Reach as well as Halo Wars is merely a symptom of its success. They wouldn't port the property to an RTS or go with two FPS 'continuations' in that universe without the first 3 being radically successful.

What really causes the hate is the popped-collar, beer-pong-playing fratboys and the smelly, day-moon fearing nerds who never bathe. Because these folks have such a rabbid love for the Halo games that they view any criticism of Halo as a personal affront and feel the need to defend it, ad nauseum.

In this case, you have to hate the player, not the game.

It's because it's over-rated, not nessecarily bad, just over-rated. The story is not laid out well (i.e. series begins after a major part story which is in a god-awful book, Halo 2's ending) and neither are the charactors. Gameplay was dumbed down severely with shields and over-powered weapons that throw tactics out the window and off a cliff. Before you call me a Halo-hater, I love Halo. The first one being the FPS I ever played after BF2142 and being one of the nearest and dearest games to my heart. It's just that Halo dumbed stuff down and left out story elements. Really the series should have been laid out with the Halo Reach and Halo CE being the first, the 'First Strike' book (which I've never read but know is a tie in of H1 and H2) and the first half of Halo 2 with some stuff maybe added for Halo 2 and the last half of Halo 2 and Halo 3 for Halo 3. Also would've like to trade shields for cover system and acrobatic and strength based gameplay element because, let's face it, the games don't do justice to what a super soldier should be able to do.

I love Halo, and all its sequels. I just finished Halo 3 on my own last night and had a blast doing it, especially when you have to kill two scarabs on the snow level (Second to last I think). I haven't played Halo Wars yet but want to. I love Halo but am not a fanboy that says everything else sucks just because Halo is my favorite (Which it isn't, I like Metroid more.)

All in all I don't like when people hate on it due to the fanbase. And I love the series.

Please, for the love of all the gods that are in worship this century, stop making these threads!
Why stop there? I suggest that we also make a plea to the Greek/Roman pantheons, some nature spirits, and the great Mor'bung, the long-forgotten god of Atlantis.

Whatever works, man. Whatever works.

It's already been said before: opinions vary on topics.

Pretty sure this exact title has been used before. And it was flamebait back then.

As for myself, I love Halo. I was raised on Chrono Trigger and Illusion of Gaia, and I've played a multitude of games on myriad systems. And I still like Halo. It has nothing to do with nostalgia, either, since I didn't even play Halo: CE and Halo 2 until sometime this last year.

I can provide a great many reasons for liking Halo, but I shall not do so at this time. Because nobody around here really cares. Threads like these are places for the Halo haters to vent their excess bile and move on.

If you played Halo and didn't like it, fine. Your opinion is valid (providing you observed the 1 hour rule). But it doesn't invalidate the opinions of those who think Halo is good (and can back it up with sound reasons, of which there are surprisingly many).

The amount of people who say Halo is an atrocity to gaming is preposterous and I want to know why? I can understand Halo 3 but Halo was innovative console-wise, Halo 2 had a good storyline with the Arbiter, Halo 3 at least had great multiplayer and if you have all the backstory it's a great story. Now I don't know if I'm biased because my memories are rose tinted with the memory of me and my dad playing through co-operatively but I played through it recently played through it and loved every second.
Again? We're sick of this topic. Stop it!!!!
