Because nothing says constipated like a flaming samurai sword.
It's a katana. Say it with me. KA - TA - NA.
Samurai sword, katana, same damn thing.

That's like saying there's a difference between a revolver and a colt python, they both imly the same thing.

because he plays himself in every role he has ever been in.

That being said I DID find him funny in Arrested Development, and in scott pilgrim

I've only seen Juno and Scott Pilgrim. So. . . I don't hate him at all. The guy wore a shirt that said SARS. How awesome is that?

Except one is a description and the other is a name.

And your revolver/colt analogy doesn't really work, since in "Katana" covers essentially all of that kind of Japanese swords in the same manner that "Revolver" covers that area of guns.

PS - I'm gonna apologize for sounding more hostile than intended. It just annoys the shit out of me when people keep refusing to use the name when it's widely (relatively speaking) used in the English language.

His acting is average, he plays the same character in almost every single role, dripping with fake awkwardness.

Fake awkwardness while acting...

Yeah, because he's actually awkward when talking to people. I'm pretty sure its fake awkwardness because he's ACTING.

(disclaimer, i am currently drunk, if i've said something stupid, please forgive me)

Don't worry, you didn't sound hostile at all. I've been on The Escapist long enough to know that most people on here have good intentions.

And here's a new analogy: Katana is too samurai sword as Klenex is to tissue paper.
Does that work?

Say, wasn't I just talking to you about my friend who didn't know what Citizen Caine was?

He has a tendency to play the same character every time.
The awkward teenage.

I liked him best in Arrested Development, but that's when I first noticed him.

So is Clint Eastwood, but I'm guessing you don't mind that.

OP: As for Cera, I like him. He's a good actor.
A few major differences between Micheal Cera and Clint Eastwood

1. Clint is badass. Cera is just.... a normal kid.
2. Clint can act well. Cera... not so much.
3. The role Clint plays is about 10,000 times more fun to watch then Cera's.
4. Cera's movies are normally of lower quality then Eastwoods.

Not enough people have seen Arrested Development.

Go watch Arrested Development

Not the rap band, the TV series.

Did I mention that you should watch that criminally under-appreciated show?

I don't have a problem with him. He hardly a favorite actor of mine, but I enjoy his work. I think he's got a great start as an actor. He's not a bad actor, but the shame is that he's type-cast. He always seems to be the "awkward lover".

I think people hate on him because he tends to be cast as unlikeable characters: Mary Sues.

I totally agree instead of watching his lame regurgitation of every role he has ever done I'm going out to watch a movie that has actors with actual range and depth. That's why I'm seeing 'The Expendibles' with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

1. That's because Clint plays cowboys. Cera plays real people.
2. Cera actually can act. He can act his one part very, very well.
3. OK, you got me there. Unless you count Scott Pilgrim, I mean, COME ON!
4. By that do you mean the quality of the film as in budget or the quality of the film as in it's entertainment value? Considering The Dollar Trilogy was actually really low budget, Cera's movies are FAR better quality then Clint's early stuff.

At least that's my reasoning.
I agree, just something about that guys face makes me want to punch him...
I actually enjoyed him in SPvTW. Sure, he can be annoying, but he was good in that.

As a matter of fact, I think you were. And sure, that analogy works well enough, if only because it's not worth the effort to argue about it more.

Edit: Take that back. Nicolas Cage is easily the best Batman ever.
