At most they contribute to objectification, which is NOT sexism (It's not good, but it's not sexist) In most of these games the overly sexy women are portrayed as at least competent at what they do. So when ever I hear foul cries of sexism I always have to scratch my chin and go "Huh?"
You seriously don't get why people find the fact that women are mostly portrayed as wank-fodder to be objectionable?
You don't think it is sexist to only portray women as `sexy`, whereas men can have a wide variety?
I'm not even sure what to say to that. (In b4 `you're not the target demo!`).
It does make me wonder whether it's the industry or the community that has the bigger problem, though.
Objectionable, yes. Sexist, no.
There's an entire spectrum of bad.
Sexism is more specifically saying that women are inferior to men because they're women. (Or vice versa, It's not only women who get it)
Implying all women should be 10/10 super models is something completely different.
I never said it wasn't bad, I said "sexism" is the wrong word.
It's like how everyone misuses "Biased" on this forum.
I would like to see an ugly female character in a game.
That would be awesome.
(You should consider the technical limitations, Think of what a pain in the ass it would be to individually design every character model. It's probably just easier to make one hot body and just copy paste it over and over. And by probably I mean definitely)
And it's true that I don't see all the hot characters as some big problem, I see the lack of normal looking characters to be a problem, but neither one of those things fall under the umbrella so "sexism" It's all part of "objectification" which is a different thing all together.
