Why are elites in Halo 3 (multiplayer) so often discriminated against? Dumb topic I know, I'm bored

I always used to play as an Elite. mostly because it was different, and so i could show off my Commando helmet. I've gone back to playing as a Spartan for now, because i fancied a change (I've been an Elite since the game came out).
I've never had this derrision thrown at me for my choice though, except a mate who does it good-naturedly.
He actually prefers the elites to Humans anyway, but he prefers the armour permutation he gets with the Spartans, so he plays Spartan.

the only game type i've played were being an Elite might be an advantage is team SWAT, because it's almost impossible to headshot and Elite from behind, because of the way they bend over.

I used to play elite because as they're rarer and require a different technique to hit in the head, so people often will try to shoot you like a spartan and screw up because you're a different shape.

I Play Halo under the assumption that everyone is an Immature Retard (I know not true in every case but the vast vast majority) almost everyone plays as Spartans so i don't want to be lumped in with them. Oh and on the headshot note its not an absolutely huge difference and i'm only playing for fun anyway some people get so serious about it.

Yeah they are, but that just can't convince some people. Bungie announced again and again that there is no difference but people refuse to accept it.

I feel your pain friend. I too play online as an Elite and get mocked. I was actually killed by my own teamate. I knew this was on purpose because he brutally beat me to death with a grav hammer. So yes I know that Elites are unfairly discriminated against, but I don't know why. I vote we get together and fight for the rights of all Elites on Halo. Of course my 360 recently experienced the "RRoD" so it might be a while before we could start our brave crusade. Oh and did I respawned I energy sworded all my teammates and quit the match. You screw with AssassinX66 you pay the price! >

I agree, we need to have a sort of Elite civil rights movement for the elites in Halo.

The only complaint I've ever come across about Elites are that they are harder to get head shots on due to their heads leaning more inward to the body, making it a little harder to line up the shot at longer distances. But I can only see this being a minor inconvenience for SWAT games (and other head shot only game variants) and XxX Sniper Rifle MLG XxX fanatics going for a head shot streak or something. On the flip side though, I've heard other people argue that Elites are easier to get a head shot on so i dunno

Right well I've been plaing Halo 3 multiplayer for a while now and I, determined to be different to the crowd would much prefer to play as an elite because
A. Elites are awesome as the kickass reptilian honour bound mighty warriors, characterised more favourably than most aliens in games.
B. I like being a reptilian alien more than a human as I have little respect for humans (give me a reason to LIKE humans... yeah that's what I thought)
C. Since there are less elites I get to be member of a minority.
D. I get to be different from the rest of the crowd.

When I have the option of going after a spartan or an elite, I always choose the elite for a simple reason: they make hilarious noises when they die. Think about it! It's awesome.
