That is the first time I've heard Fugazi called emo. Just, no.

You are a bro.

The correct term for the 'emo kid' most of you know is 'scene kid'.

Bad music thats completely unmemorable to the point where a band pops up makes an album gets a hit and fades into nothingness never to be heard from again.
Bad hair (it really isn't original The Cure did it before them and probably some did it before them).
The way they dress... drain pipe trousers, its all that has to be said.
And being androgynous.

It's not what they wear, it's how they act. They seem to do absolutely anything for attention(atleast where I live) and they're just like the people with a silly sense of reality. They listen to music that appeals to them and just wants their money while they defend it with all their might, and not to mention how awful it is.

I hate the emo's that claim to be "The most creative and interesting people in the world" by virtue of being emo.

If you feel the need to label yourself and follow some sort of social trend i don't think you have the grounds to call yourself the most creative and interesting people in the world.

I think your a full of shit fourteen year old.

Please note this doesn't apply to all emos, merely the one who seem to think that they are somehow better then others by acting in accordance to a specific social trend. This goes for anyone who matches that criteria.

To the people who dress emo and listen to emo music because honestly and genuinely that is who you are then i have no beef with you. However the sheer number of emo's from when i was in high school who i have run into that are now going "god i was such an idiot back then" tells me that it isn't a common occurrence.

I dislike the emo stereotype. If someone has emo characteristics but doesn't fit entirely into the stereotype, they're fine. As long as one of those characteristics isn't "complain about everything, even if it's worthless".

Just because I have somewhat long hair and I respond callously to conversation doesn't mean I'm emo. A way to prove that is to see me at my house on weekends with Reach booted up. (Forge is VERY fun)

i got lectured from an emo not long ago for apologising for nudging them passing buy, i think ungrateful sums it up
Ungrateful, yes. Rich little boys dying their hair black and listening to things they think will make them stand out, coupled with ridiculously feminine jeans and their striped purple-black jackets make them hilarious characters, and talking to one is the best. Unless, of course, they're the more "antisocial(bet they still have a Facebook to add their brooding friends)" and in that case are total jerks.

2. cutting youself isnt cool darn it! ive done it before, it hurts, alot alswell as many medical problems may come from doing it
A paper cut is much worse than anything you would be willing to do to yourself. Seriously, they sting badly, they bleed like hell, and they take weeks to heal. It's one of the reasons not to do drugs. Sticking needles you were afraid of when you were a kid into yourself isn't fun.

They really should put Burzum on my college jukebox so I could blast Black Metal into their puny ear drums.
Pfft. I think this, this or this would do the job far better.

Putting one of the so many "Core" genres that I detest on would completely destroy my point.
All of those links are to black metal.

They are not metalcore.

Are you retarded? They're the progenitors of the genre. Go look at the Wiki or any number of music encyclopedias.

Are you siding with me, or saying that I'm wrong?

Honestly, all I've found on this board so far are outright morons and pseudo-intellectual hurpdurps who think they're special, funny, smart unique snowflakes, when they all think the same thing about a subject they're totally ignorant to.

I am not an emo, nor do I hate emos, so I do not know for sure why there is so much dislike for them. I guess it's for the same reason why most people are hated, Because they are different.

because at least according to my own personal social construct of the emos they generally have it pretty good, usually getting all emo because 'no one understands them' while they also shun anyone who doesn't understand them after a single pathetic attempt to explain themselves "like man i just don't know whats so great about being like everyone else ya know?" "no i don't" "well then you're stupid and unwilling to make an effort...no one understands me." and thats all well and good hell i like to think of mysself as an enigmatic oddball (much less of a cliche than the emos claiming individuallity) but when someone 'doesn't understand' i either explain it to them, or just don't value their opinion of me, instead tring to focus on those that do. further more alot of their stuff seems to come across as attention grabbing antics, and i don't aprove of the misuse of representing an emotion simply because your personality is such weak sauce it is drown out by other, more interesting people. honestly i've been rather depressed lately but i don't use that to identify myself (usually choosing more chaotic, fun emotions like rage, hatred, and on the posotive side honesty and loyalty.)
