IMO there are a lot of factors. Unattainability, the fact that unlike watching a man and woman bang there is nothing not to look a, a feeling that maybe its wrong or naughty and particularly with 'first timers' or 'drunken friends' type scenarios the suggestion is there that almost any girl, maybe even your GF might consider trying it out at least once, leading to a possible FFM threesome.

Guys enjoy sex, but don't enjoy seeing guys in their sex. They're nervous that they might be paying attention to the guy in the scene too much, and watching just two (or more) women carries none of that risk. Therefore, the idea of lesbians is a win-win for most guys.
