Speaking as a female, I have watched all sorts of porn, but generally not lesbian porn. Unfortunately, some to most male roles in porn have the man abusing the woman, slapping her ass and/or being like "Who's your Daddy?" with every thrust. That turns me right off. And the stuff that isn't violent is all the same. "Do a minute and a half in one position, then switch it up to the next position, and the man never comes inside the woman, because we have to tell the trolls watching this stuff when to finish beating off and fetishize the man ejaculating on the woman's ass." Such a turnoff. Really.
Male/male porn is not made for women, and has a lot of this same aesthetic, which is why women are into Yaoi. It's the nearest you can get to sex with no gender politics: two people treat each other as equals and one is not in a position over the other (although, to be honest, I don't like the Yaoi where one character stalks and browbeats another into a relationship, even if the second one ends up enjoying it later. Stalking and sexual harassment is still that no matter how much one character ends up enjoying it later. And the weeping and crying and "OW! It HURTS!" make me want to vomit when it occurs in Yaoi as well (yes, it's a trope). It makes me want to scream "You're doing it wrong!"
Ahem. Anyhow, as I was saying, homosexual male porn is not made for women. Lesbian porn *is* made for men, as far as I can tell. Back some while ago, in the 80's, when I first started seeing this stuff, I heard women were making porn for women- much more fantasy-based than male porn and with no external cumshots. I'd like to see that and see what it's like, but I have never encountered any. That's the problem with the whole porn industry- it's based around men and what they want- not women. And while I won't comment that romance is porn for women, if you read it, you can see what women want in their erotic fantasies. Generally, it's a man who accepts them for who they are, and doesn't try to change them for himself, and who finds them hot and who they find hot and attractive in return. It doesn't mean someone conventionally attractive, or even a handsome bugger with one attractively placed scar. It can be a geek who likes the same stuff we do and doesn't put us down for it, a game geek who doesn't reduce women to "Make me a sammich, woman, and then show me your tits!" But is more like, "Wow! You like playing Call of Duty? So do I! Let's play some now..." (if you have time and the opportunity to do so).
