Cause most games with Russian people in it, are designed for the Western world. And with western world, I really just mean America. And well, let's face it, if there's a villan in a movie/game/book (scratch books, nobody seems to read them but me) made for the American public it must either be a Russian, a German or an Alien and then have a white american guy in his twenties beating the bad guys.

And to the actual question: Got to agree with the accent.

Given the average age of the typical escapist user, no really they couldn't have. I was 6 when the cold war "ended" (going with 1991 here). I have a feeling that I'm one of the older users here (though certainly not the oldest).

I suspect we Americans need a nemesis now and again, though lately we've been going a bit overboard with it (as in at least 3/4 of the world openly hostile and the other 1/4 just puts up with us because they have investments here).

It's because Russia (and the Soviet Union before it) is the only force in the world capable of countering USA (not to mention completely obliterating it, along with the rest of the planet).

You are sadly misinformed; Russia has only a few allies were as the U.S has the majority of the EU. The only thing Russia could do in a war is to take everyones oil away.

China and Korea are more powerful than Russia.

Im talking about a thermonuclear war. They don't need allies for that, they have enough missiles to cover the entire Earth in mushroom clouds by themselves

Many WW2 games where you get to play as a Russian, such as COD: WAW, you play as a good Russian, and the Russians are usually the most badass and heroic characters in the games.

You know, I was about to say language, but accent is a better answer. Let's go with that.

As for villains, history has a lot to do with it. Soviet Union versus the "West" during the cold war, Germany versus a lot of people during the world wars, Japan versus the rest of East Asia and the US during WWII, the British Empire versus the rest of the world during imperialism, France versus the rest of Europe during the Napoleonic years, the Romans versus "barbarians," Persians versus Greeks, etc.

You can go on and on about it, but basically every society has a history, and that history includes villains. For western societies in the last fifty years, the most powerful contemporary villain is the Soviet Union. Hence, Russians are the awesome... I mean villainous.
