Guys are more willing to make fools/clowns/whatever out of themselves(case and point: me). We need to make jokes because we're attention starved man-children.

Women who are funny are either bitter, a mis-fit in high school, or like most comedians- repressing an inner darkness cause by what happened in life(these 3 are similar but not the same).

There are exceptions to these so don't come at me with a verbal crowbar of bile.

Ok so I looked up Lisa Lamonelli, and she is just like almost all the female comedians I have heard complaining about female problems and her dildo and such. It was so bad I couldn't watch any more.

I dinno' I liked what's basically become her trademark line: "I've fucked more black guys than Hurricane Katrina." Wow, it seems so...not funny when you type it out.

EDIT:Anyway, I know a few good female comedians, but I'm totally blanking on the names.

What about Tina Fey? Or Amy Poehler...or do you mean standup? I can't think of any great female standup comics...Not being sexist, but I would say men are genetically funnier.

I did watch a bit more and she got a little bit funny in a rude racist sort of way.

I actually don't find those women from SNL to be very funny, or the guys from that show for that matter either unless they were on it at least 15 years ago. There were some ladies from Madtv who were funny like Mo Collins and Alex Borstein, but again I think as a sheer matter of funny weight, I don't generally laugh as hard with female comedians. Also, please don't anybody think I am trying to be sexist I am only making an observation.

Because most women will willingly watch a male comedian, but some men are too stubborn to enjoy a female's comedy. ...well thats 1 theory at least.

Well I guess that kicks off the next tangent of this topic curve: exactly what types of stand-up comedy do you find funny?

Well generally complaining about your sex life as the majority of your routine is not funny, Dane Cook is not funny, it's really hard to explain exactly what I find funny, oh my favorite comedians are, Frank Caliendo, Craig Ferguson, Harland Williams is hilarious sometimes while other times he is not, I loved him in the Rocket man. I like a good impressionist. I also like Jim Carrey especially his older stuff like Fire Marshall Bill.

OK to be honest there are a few, like Wanda Sykes, but very few. It seems men dominate the comedy world why is this?
What about Sarah Silverman or Ellen
I was waiting for someone to bring up Ellen, that is one that I hear a lot but really don't agree with but at least she doesn't suck bad.

Any women to have an opinion posted yet?
Yes I want to know if women can relate to female comedians better. Do they find them funny?

Maybe because it takes balls to get up on a stage in front of people and make crude jokes?

Thinking about the majority of stand up routines/jokes we find really funny, can you actually picture a woman telling those jokes? Dark bastard humour doesn't really suit women well.

I'm very tired so I'm probably rambling, but it's could be down to biological differences and differences in our psychological make up.

It's nothing sexist, but it probably is down to gender differences and the nature of what makes us laugh.

Over simplifying it, maybe it's just that dick jokes are funny and dildo jokes are icky?

i will grant that she is foul-mouthed and shocking, but so is my creepy uncle harold.

i despise margaret cho. with all my heart

ellen isn't exactly funny, but sarah silverman does tickle my funnyboner.

there was this perky blond who did standup for a while, forgot her name, but her bit about this "amazing magical white energy powder you crush up with a razor blade and blow up your nose" was hysterical.

The answer to this question, and many like it, is "cultural gender norms".
