The show was created by Lauren Faust (Creator of Powerpuff Girls and co-creator of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends). It doesn't get any more amazing than that.

With an aggressive attack against the unshakable stereotypes that have plagued cartoons aimed at girls for nearly three decades by averting everything that people have hated about the genre, it at least commands respect for what it aims to accomplish, even if you dislike the series itself.
