Because a lot of girls are here, nostalgia works on us too, the show isn't half bad.

Well I just simply find the show well written and funny, thats all I get from it.
We're not in disagreement it's well-written and funny.

I'm fishing for alternate possibilities why we're seeing a glut of My Little Pony avatars amongst the Internet populace.
Your just flying way over my head with your linguistic skills, making me fell tarded :C

Well I'm glad you got everything sorted out *hugs*

I've actually been absent for a bit, heck this is the most I have posted in a long time.
Good on you. Sometimes it's good to take breaks from things we love, thereby when we return it is a refreshing and fun experience once more. After being away from the Escapist for a fair bit, I appreciate the time I spend here more.

Hence, I develop friendships with users such as yourself. In a sense, I feel that my time away from the Escapist allowed me to "take a breather" and give myself some room.

[small][small][small][small][small][small][small][small][small]I have also tainted Google Image search with my Renamon images. Seriously, go on Google Images and search 'Renamon.' Over half of the image sources that come up are from the Escapist, specifically my Digimon RP.[/small][/small][/small][/small][/small][/small][/small][/small][/small]

Well its riddled with your images and porn D:

Of course I never turned safe search on :p

Also if you still play TF2 add me on Steam and we can play some time, mite b funs.

Becuase it started on 4chan.
and mods starting banning people on 4chan for spamming with it.

so, because it's 4chan, more people started doing it because the mods didn't like it.

and like in every case, the rest of the internet is just copying what 4chan does, and it became a meme.

It's no longer banned on 4chan but it's still banned on Something Awful, which does not surprise me since the mods are ban-hungry nazis who will find any excuse to ban you.

You think that lolicon isn't on the same level as actual child pornography? BANNED.
You want to discuss Nanoha? BANNED.
Ponies? BANNED.

For a board that charges you to register, they sure is eager to throw your ass out. Also, $5 to change your avatar? LOL NO

From what I've heard, the show is surprisingly good. The creator Laurn Faust has already said she's trying to make it so that it isn't some brainless drivel designed only to "entertain" young girls with stereotypically "girly" things.

Haven't watched anything of it myself, but I've thought about it. The aestetic is well-done, if not exactly to my style, and from what I've heard it's quite humorous. I'm just amused by the overall reaction that you see beyond it's "target" audience. The fights going on throughout the boards of 4chan make me crack up to know end, with some screaming "CANCER!" while the "bronies" just "love and tolerate the hell out of them". The pointless bickering just tickles something within me.

It's an affront to my manliness. Why would I watch it?

Where's Captain Planet?
Because it's good and it kicks the shit out of Captain Planet. Seriously, if you enjoyed the Powerpuff Girls or Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, you'll probably like this show too.

Because the show is quickly rising to fame. The creator also made Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and the Powerpuff Girls, which were also rather popular. It began on 4chan, but is now becoming a meme. Some people like it to be sarcastic, but some actually do enjoy it.

Me? I subjected myself to the first 4 minutes of the first episode and then had to do manly things to prove to myself I wasn't turning into a woman or some other type of thing. That show was pure torture to me.
Some people have different tastes than others I guess.
I'm still waiting for my modern day gritty Captain Planet remake.

^ This. If this show didn't have the following it does on the web I would safely bet that the vast majority of you guys wouldn't watch it if you stumbled across it on TV or whatever.

...and yes I watched the first episode. Unless the story arch changes so Patrick Stewart comes out of a portal discovered by Charlies Sheen riding a monochromatic rainbow then I still stand by my opinion that I do not care for this show.

To each their own.

Damn it, once I started I couldn't stop. Had to stop the video 3 times whenever someone came in the room and act all casual like. That Pegasus pony kinda reminded me of Buttercup. I probably won't be using any pony avatars anytime soon, but I may end up giving the show a bit of a watch. I've always been pretty open minded about stuff like that. I also have to admit that the soundtrack was pretty good, the music was well done and the art and animation get a pass by my standards. Which are pretty high to be honest.

Because it takes a real man to display a "My Little Pony" avatar.

as a guy with an MLP avi (Princesses Luna) takes a set to just admit you like the show in public

but to OP:

simple answer is, the show has fans for being good, not just a 'throw away 30 min toy add', that s right, I'm looking at you, Transformers: the animated series, the show has fans out side 'little girls' cause we where able to have an open mind about it, that,
and
Flutter Shy VS the red dragon and the cockatrice (Dragon Shy and Stare Master)
>.> she could make Kratos cry like a ***** and run away, and we love her for it

No that was Lauren Faust?s husband but she did work closely with him on both shows.

The first MLP general was made originally to trash the daylights out of the show. The Hub was a brand new channel, and it was prime fodder for being mocked, seeing as how they belitted every other new show during the channel's debut. Strawberry Shortcake, G.I. Joe, etc. got torn to shreds and were left for dead by /co/. Aside from MLP, the only other show that premiered around that time that is still remembered is Pound Puppies, which lives on but with a fate arguably <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbF6mWk1Z3A>worse than death, thanks to being advertised right after Friendship is Magic.

The first two episodes are NOT representative of the rest of the series. The "plot" gets dropped after the obligatory introduction.

After that, it's all staring down Cockatrice's, breaking the sound barrier, spontaneously combusting ponies, harsh icy winds 15 feet above sea level in the middle of spring/summer, obsessive compulsive disorder perfectionist ponies, deep man voices, hilarious animation errors ripe for memetic status, and going beyond the impossible.
