Becuase it started on 4chan.
and mods starting banning people on 4chan for spamming with it.

so, because it's 4chan, more people started doing it because the mods didn't like it.

and like in every case, the rest of the internet is just copying what 4chan does, and it became a meme.
It's no longer banned on 4chan but it's still banned on Something Awful, which does not surprise me since the mods are ban-hungry nazis who will find any excuse to ban you.

You think that lolicon isn't on the same level as actual child pornography? BANNED.
You want to discuss Nanoha? BANNED.
Ponies? BANNED.

For a board that charges you to register, they sure is eager to throw your ass out. Also, $5 to change your avatar? LOL NO
They ban pedos and ponies?

Because it takes a real man to display a "My Little Pony" avatar.

This

Probably been said 100 times already but whatever. The show IS actually good. There are definitely cheesy bits (The first few minutes of ep 1 is one of them, it gets better), but they aren't too bad and it's not the pure drivel you would expect from a straight to dvd barbie movie. And the strange mix of embarrassment, but publicly loving it anyway is a nifty feeling.

They don't even care if you're a pedo. If you don't think drawings are as abhorrent as the exploitation of actual children, you better keep it to yourself or lose $10, which would be impossible for someone like me who finds it extremely offensive and sickening to compare smutty drawings to something horrible and tragic as the thousands of REAL children that are being sexually exploited each day.

That intro was about 900 times better than Dragon Age I.

I fear I might be watching this show soon...damn you Sleekgiant...damn you to Equestria.

Because the show is amazing.
Details maybe?
The show was created by Lauren Faust (Creator of Powerpuff Girls and co-creator of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends). It doesn't get any more amazing than that.
That's cool, I think I might actually watch some if I get a chance.

Well had the HUD for a while but I got to used to the Community HUD since its a bit cleaner, still have the renamon silhouette for spy :3. Going to find another Renamon avvie later when I find a good cute one.

Also mind if I ask why you wanted the ban?
Not at all.

I requested the ban due to the fact that I was spending far too much time on the Escapist, and it was causing me severe amounts of stress as well as breaking my focus from my University classes. Now that I have things a bit more stable, I feel that I can continue chatting with the fine members of the Escapist.

I felt the break of a couple months or so was enough to allow me to realize what is truly important in life.
I've asked for two suspensions so far for that very reason. I may end up asking for a full ban myself for my final project.

This site is dangerously addicting.

Huh, ok, I decided to watch this and narrate my thoughts as it goes along.

Start: Backstory feels... shallow, but I don't think there was much room to work with considering the material :/

Although in the original series from what I know the ponies enemies was the <a=http://www.cracked.com/article_17129_7-badass-cartoon-villains-who-lost-to-retarded-heroes_p2.html>the Devil.

Intro music: Painfully cheesy, but short.

1:00: Hay, the animation looks pretty. Sure it is the same style as Powerpuff Girls, Panty and Stocking, and Foster's, but it works well here.

2:40: Why is the Panty pony struggling to find the basic facts about her creation/destruction myths? And is dragon fire their only mode of communication? Why do I find myself caring?

6:30: The dragon's voice is starting to get on my nerves a bit...

11:00: Hmm, the main character seams to be as annoyed by the attempts at friendship as I am...

I wonder if how intentionally that really is <.<

14:00: Very intentional. Defiently going to be some "she has to go to friendship to use magic."

18:00: I am really starting to like relate to Twilight Spar... the Panty Pony. She is surrounded my idiots.

And I also want some of that cyanide Twilight poured into the punch listening to the pink one.

20:00: Obvious plot twist is obvious.

22:00: I honestly can't tell if evil Moon Pony is either over or under acting.

Final thoughts: Absolutely aweful, terrible, worst thing I have ever seen.

May I ask were I can find the rest of the episodes so I can manily subject myself to more pain?

<..>

What?

Because the show is quickly rising to fame. The creator also made Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and the Powerpuff Girls, which were also rather popular. It began on 4chan, but is now becoming a meme. Some people like it to be sarcastic, but some actually do enjoy it.

Me? I subjected myself to the first 4 minutes of the first episode and then had to do manly things to prove to myself I wasn't turning into a woman or some other type of thing. That show was pure torture to me.
Some people have different tastes than others I guess.
I'm still waiting for my modern day gritty Captain Planet remake.
I gotta say, the first few episodes were a little bit 'girly.'

But it gets way better in the later episodes, try watching say, Sonic Rainboom ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c5SOlcXCFE ).

I personally love this show, everything about it is awesome, although it's not just yet that I'll unleash the fact that I watch this to my friends >_>

Because masculinity is overrated.
I expect sometimes it is nostalgia. I remember watching the origional cartoon alongside the origional Care Bears cartoon, and if I had one, that would be why.

From 0-1.04min sounds like it was building up to something like "and thus the pony kingdom was plunged into a brutal civil war"

Seriously though...thats actually....pretty good
Watched the first 10 minutes. Yeah, that it is pretty good.

It's amazing what you can get out of writers that try to have fun and enjoy what they're doing. It kind of reminds me of Captain Planet in that way. Seriously watch a few eps and try and tell me the people making that show weren't trying to make the best of it.

A strange trend I been noticing is a large amount of Avatar's from the New My Little Pony series.

So, those that have the avatars, can you explain to me why you have chosen it, and to those that have not can you provide speculation?
* Ponies are awesome
* My Little Pony is awesome
* The new My Little Pony series is new so it has the novelty of being a new thing

Sums it up right here.

At first being my short-minded self I loathed them ponies with a passion and I wanted to blow up a wall every time they were mentioned. Until I watched it on Youtube; animator of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends this show is a perfect blend of awesome.

oh god my brain just lost 75% of its brain cells. that intro was so... obvious and unoriginal. seriously? the "stones of harmony" or whatever they were called? it's like a B movie dude. it's like the over the top cheesiness of PoS action movies. like "drive angry". could they not have called them something else? i guess that it just goes to show you the mental demographic of todays youth.

I've watched 4 episodes so far, and I've got to say, it's pretty damn awesome. A hell of a lot better than most, if not all, western cartoons airing today. Still not gonna get an avatar of it, though.

I'm actually addicted to watching it now.
