Why are YOU losing faith in humanity?

Losing faith in humanity takes bitterness and hatred. Becoming jaded and hard, so that you cannot recognize the person that you once were. You cannot recognize happiness, or if you have ever possessed such an emotion. Truly losing faith in humanity is losing faith in one's self. A fate I would wish on no one. Seeing myself smile, or seeing someone laugh around me renews my faith. Seeing emotions and reactions gives me more and more faith. So no, I believe in humanity. My faith in it is still there, as long as I am alive.

Incidentally, I'm losing faith b/c of the way people interact. Facebook and Twitter (which is for twits) are bad enough. I don't hav either and I find myself not hearing about things or being seen as less than by gals when I don't go and friend the shit out of 'em (Maybe I should talk to different chicks).

The fact that there are three kinds of person. Those that are intelligent and miserable, those that are intelligent and happy but utter bastards and those that are ignorant.

The ignorant need to educate themselves and then they join one of the other two kinds of human. Everyone falls into those categories.

I lost faith in humanity when I realised that all of us are either bastards out for themselves or victims at the mercy of the bastards. We all sit here looking at our screens, thinking up witty responses and preparing to tear each other down. And whilst I type this people die. And none of us give a fuck.

Lets say this post took... 4 minutes. 4 minutes is 240 seconds.

48 children died of starvation.
16 died of diarrhea.

Do any of us care? Not really, No.

400 woman and children get raped in the Congo every single year.

Every 10 days a child in Britain dies at the hands of their parents or legal guardians.

30 million people lose their homes every single year.

If America spent its entire military budget on relieving poverty for a single year there would be noone living beneath the poverty line.

The reason I lost faith in humanity? Look at yourself. If you already knew those statistics, do you ever thinking about them? Have you ever cried over the deaths of hundreds? If you did not know them, did learning them change your day at all? Are you going to life a finger to help anyone?

nd what have you done, mister self-righteous? How have you made the world a significantly better place? I'll give you a statistic. Right now, 1000 people are complaining about the worlds issues and not actaully doing anything.

I work for Oxfam 365, I am currently engaged in lobbying to have the law changed in regards to people who try to kill themselves within Britain (So it is truly no longer a criminal act), I have directly saved a life before and I will do again.

Also I am a Socialist Activist trying to make this world a better place through the breaking down of social barriers, of the class system and the gap between the rich and poor. I could go on and on.

Not much, Not enough. But hell, Its a start.

And finally? You are one of the reasons I have lost faith in humanity.

Plenty of people are willing to tear down others for not doing enough whilst doing FUCK ALL THEMSELVES.

To be fair, I work in emergency services and go out of my way to assist people every day. I am aware of all the issues with the world and I DO take steps to do things about it but I guess I am more of an optimist than you.
I don't tear down everyone else and lose faith in all of humanity because of it. The good far outweighs the bad. We just have to proceed one step at a time.

If anything would make me lose my faith, it'd be this thread. The problem doesn't lie in humanity, but your attitude and how you see it.

Why is this a problem? Specifically, Christianity. It does good for people in this modern society and there is no problem with people believing in a god. It gives them faith, more-or-less good values and gives them a purpose in life. It's sad to see that people believing in god is a reason to lose faith in the whole of humanity. Refer to my post.

I'm not, I know that a handful of assholes and a few bad experiences don't suddenly tarnish the entire human race or everything good we've ever accomplished and everything we ever will.
I just don't see the reason for disavowing our entire species just because of some things a group or an individual have done.

But I haven't had that hard of a life, so it would be kind of juvenile for me personally to lose faith in humanity. If someone else has faced something truly horrible, then maybe the loss of faith in humanity is more understandable even if I don't agree with the concept. I just don't see the point in dwelling on the bad, not when energy can instead be focused on doing good.
