I am losing my faith because it always seems that most people simply want something out of you. "Good for the sake of good" is dead, it seems.
You mean to tell me that it was alive at some point?

:(
Maybe. Maybe not. All I know is that it should be alive but isn't. More concerningly, is whilst people need a reason, a reward, to be good, they never seem to need such reasons to be evil.
You say "they" here but are you truly any different?
I'd say yes, but only others could truly know. I don't do good for no reason so much anymore, because it proved itself difficult to maintain emotionally. It ain't fun to serve others when no one serves you. Still, I do it when it is most important. As for being evil, I do bad things, but I do them for good reasons.

"Yar, everything isn't perfect so I lose faith in almost 7 billion people". Seriously, the melodrama here is rampant.
True in a way, but if we stop trying when things are "good" they'll never be "perfect".

I'm greatly amused that the thread just presumes loss of faith in humanity as a given. XD

I can't lose faith in humanity, since I am a part of it. (And I am perfect in every way imaginable [even in some unimaginable ways])

I'm not lossing faith in humanity. I just find that homo sapiens are still a bunch of clueless children, with no universal concept of what it means to be a true human being, and no means to apply said concept to the basic template of society.

Outside my Grandparents house a few days ago see some scum kids setting fire to the side of their house then pouring petrol on the fire.

Oh... Are your grandparents ok? Did any of their belonging get injured?

Mainly because A LOT of people restrict themselves to a life of willfull ignorance regarding the fact of evolution (don't even go there), health reforms and the extremely useful hemp plant. Yeah.

Just watch the news. Half the world is killing each other either because of some power mad butcher or because they belive their god told them to and the other half is slowly sinking into economic ruin.
Because that's the way the news works...

It isn't feasible to report on every good incident that occurs, so they only focus on the bad.
I agree, most major news stations filter out good news because it's not as gripping to viewers as bad news. So all these people pretending to be worldly and cynical are no more correct than a child coming back from watching Barney who thinks he'll one day meet a dinosaur.

I'm not losing my faith in humanity because I acknowledge the fact that I don't have an all encompassing knowledge base of the entire Earth, and because I'm not such a smug twat as to think I have the right to judge the entire planet's inhabitants.

Evolution threads on this very website. I just got done with this thread, something like "why can't we have scientific discussion here anymore?", which was a shameless plea for sympathy in order to get Team Science to apologise for being impatient with their rote ID bullshit. There were some seriously great responses and they were just being ignored in favor of more "tide goes in tide goes out, can't explain that", and I just had to put down a tirade.

Not a minute later, I see another thread, this one a mammoth 17 pages long, about people misunderstanding evolution, and it's fucking full of exactly that. I figure the first thread was probably this one's wriggling shed tail. I want to write a response that shows what research has been done, and to explain the bases of all these misunderstandings, to mete not judgment but edification, but as I do I see another "evolution is just a theory" and THE RAGE FILLS MY BODY

I really haven't lost faith in humanity and I'm sick of everyone saying they have its really annoying because most people are only saying it because its what everyone else is saying.

Fucking herd mentality drives me insane.

I've lost faith in humanity because it was a rather poor investment decision. I got greedy, and didn't sell when I should have. So, I'm currently expanding and diversifying my portfolio of faith. For example, I now believe in Mike Ross.

You should invest in the non-beleif sector. Complete and utter lack of happiness is where the public is at.

I haven't lost faith yet, but it seems that no one gives a sh*t about humanity!
Faith hasn't run out, it's just fading...
