Speaking as a fan of the comics, movies, the recent video game, and the animated series that is pretty much the best thing ever, Batman is pretty damn awesome.

Batman works for one simple reason:
A hero is only as intresting as his weakness.
sure its cool to see superman win without trying once or twice, but eventually you get bored of that. Batman can be killed by anything, but the fact that he manages to triumph makes him all the more awsome. its far more entertaining to watch a weakling win against overwhealming odds then it is an invincible man with god like powers. If you don't belive me then pay attention to how many stories are about an underdog coming out on top.
That is an excellent point. Superman starts to get boring after a while whereas Batman doesn't. Also, while Batman isn't a weakling by far, it's still good to know that he is only human.
Objection! Superman may seem god-like at first, but most people tend to forget A. that he is characterized in a very human way, and B. that pretty much all of his foes are either of a similar or superior power level to him or are geniuses with the intelligence and resources to defeat him. Also everyone forgets that the Flash is the single most over-powered character ever.

Well he's better then Superman, I mean seriously Superman doesn't even have a disguise, people in his world are so stupid they can't tell the difference between a person with glasses and the same person without glasses.
Yeah, glasses probably aren't the best idea for concealing an identity.
Objection again! Supes also slouches, wears clothes too big for him, raises his voice an octave, and creates a wimpy, unimpressive persona in his civilian identity, and he is a master dual-role actor.
Yeah I get kinda worked up when people make uninformed Superman claims.
But back to Batman, he's awesome, but he should really stop appearing in so many crossovers. Basically all he does in most of them is hover around everyone else when they're trying to move the otherwise-interesting plot along, waiting for the slightest chance to tell them how much they suck and how much better he is than everyone else. It gets pretty damn annoying, especially when he has nothing to contribute. He's awesome in solo-series though.
