Why bring babies to a zoo?

That's not actually true. Babies can see clearly up to 12 inches away from birth and the range expands quickly after that.

Just zoos? I feel this was complaining for no real reason. Babies cry. They do this. So they should not go to zoos? I still don't get it.

I've already given reasons. They're loud and can't appreciate, understand or even take notice what is on display and results in the animals in the enclosures to hide/become distressed. I know the animals can become like this either way but in my experience and other people I know, they've caused the animal to leave when it was just getting close, the second the baby started crying.

I do think people should take their babies out in general, but some instances don't make sense.

My question is why not bring babies to the zoo? Any and all exposure to the information of any kind is a good thing really, besides the obvious things you should not expose a child to of course.

BTW, who has children here? I have a 10 year old daughter for the record. When she was a baby she loved the zoo.

But anyway, I would actually prefer emphasis on the noise ruining the experience, that's the issue at hand. Babies understanding is a second point. A baby can get the same (mundane) mental stimulation from outdoors in general.

I actually want to know how people know their babies enjoyed the zoo since if they told you they weren't really babies haha. And I'm not arguing, I'm really asking.
