Nah you just can't remember anymore. I had the same problem a while back. Here's my advice:

1. Learn how to tell the difference between lucid dreaming and reality. This can be done by spotting something abnormal in a dream or by building a habit in normal life which when used in the dream will give an abnormal response. Such as looking at a clock twice. If your in reality it will be the same but if you are in a dream the hands will change.

2. Write down anything you do remember right as you wake up. It will help build your recall ability's.

It takes time and try not to force it.
ive tried number 2 but number 1 i cant see anything at all so i cant really tell
You can't remember anything anyway. Or maybe your blackness is the dream. If your in blackness and aware of it try making things happen. Try running or a form of exercise. If you can do these things your in a dream. Try doing more difficult and impossible things as time go's on and eventually you'll gain control over your dreams. You can even fashion your own dream. I once had to fight 7 bosses 1 of which was a manta-ray who could swim in sand. Damn that was a fun day.

If it's just you can't remember it then just do as I've said in number 1. Also if you remember nothing but black then write down you saw nothing but blackness. Right down ALL the things you remember, if you remember blackness that's in there.

I'd like to have an answer to this aswell.
I almost never remember dreams.
Sometimes I even wake up in front of the fridge, by the toilet, in front of a door, in the bathtub (of course I went to sleep in my bed
BEcause ive been extensively searching for a way to dream you apparently sleep walk because your feet are cold so wear socks or something to bed. and fun fact i once slept in a bathtub was much nicer then you would expect.

It's medically impossible to not dream.
Yeah as I understand it, if you are genuinely unable to dream you lose your mind and go quite literally bat shit crazy.
I don't know, bat shit isn't that crazy. It's inanimate.
[small]Yes, I do love being a pedant about the word literally... :p[/small]

4 years ago ive just stopped having dreams i cant recall any of them all i see is a black screen in till my eyes open up again its very annoying. especially when everyone wants to talk about what they dreamt about last night and i always reply with 'I don't see anything but blackness'. i always thought that 'oh maybe i will remember bits and pieces' but so far i cant even remember a fragment of it [in a 4 year time space] tried everything having a journal which i write in so far is just filled with 'no dream'. Also no wet dreams WTF. Does anybody else have this issue or a good way to solve it.

[EDIT] Would going to a therapist help?
happened to me, dreams came back about a year ago...

It's my theory that you only remember incomplete dreams. REM sleep comes in 1.5-2 hour cycles (average length of a movie go figure), one cycle of uninterrupted REM equals one complete dream. I also don't recall my dreams, but I also sleep an 8 hour cycle that remains consistent over time (I dont need an alarm to wake at a specific time, which sucks on days off).

I read / heard from somewhere that everybody sees dreams every night, its just that if you dream them through, you wont remember them, and if you wake up in the middle of them you will remember them. Something like that, not sure if its true.

Edit: 300th post!

It's possible that you're using too much caffeine. It does impact your ability to remember dreams, but like the one guy says, it's not really possible not to dream.

I remember reading that you remember dreams more and dream more, disrupted sleep aside, if you're having new experiences. Kids dream more than adults, etc. So maybe do something new for a while.

Note: Just looked the book up on amazon (accelerated learning by Colin Rose) and it was written in 1985 so this information could well have been disproved.

It's because you're not real - your either an android or a chat bot :p it's the only plausible explanation.

What you mean that inanimate objects cant be crazy? But they say such bemusing things though. Unless its just the things I own. What do your inanimate objects say to you??
Well played.
Just... well played. *tips hat*
