Why can't I enjoy this game?

GTA IV though to this day I'm not entirely sure why. I thought I'd love it, anticipated it's release and brought it but then just couldn't stick with it. I keep trying to go back to it but nothing makes me wanna play longer than the time it takes to mow down a few pedestrians.
Same here, I just found it dull.

My top three, GTA IV, Oblivion, and Killzone 2. Played all the way through Killzone, but really despised it, I just wanted to finish it because I actually liked the first one, unlike a lot of people I know.

Killzone 2, Resistence 2, Kayne and Lynch, Scribblenaughts, Mirror's Edge and, likely many others

Basically just Halo and Bioware RPG's that are not Jade Empire.

Halo because its so ludicrous that its not even funny.

And Bioware RPG's because I am a fan of actually playing games. Not watching conversations.

Oblivion...
Just could not do it. I tried, made it through the sewers then flipped out and went back to shooting people...

The first level of KOTOR, the only reason I got through that level was my friend came around and did it for me, I'm glad he did though because KOTOR is brilliant
That was exactly the same with me. My friends got me playing KotOR and I couldn't understand why they liked it so much, until I finished Taris.

Other than that, Oblivion has never stood well with me, but I think that's primarily because of its leveling system.

Actually, looking at my current collection, Oblivion is one of the few I haven't really completed. I mean I've done the main questline, but that's pretty much it, and I finished at level 2.

.. Space Empires 5. I play it with the balance mod.
I mean, the tactical possibilities are nearly endless in this game.

But the interface is just.. horrible.
And its engine is poorly made, a fleet of 200 ships makes the my computer lag like crazy! And 200 is NOTHING.

Its so close to actually being good! I want to enjoy it.. but i cant!

Neverwinter nights 2. I've tried it three times but it just doesn't click. The thing is I really want to give Mask of the Betrayer a try because it's supposed to have a cracking story but I can't just start that with a character levelled up and no clue what's going on.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising had that effect for me. And the Halo series. Just don't understand why it's so popular, I tried playing them, but always end up turning it off soon after starting.

CoD Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock, and Team Fortress 2

then got any simple achievements i might have missed.

Assassin's Creed 2. After playing through the first one, I guess I was just expecting something more... immersive. The sense of atmosphere and brutality AC1 had was just not there for me.

GTA:IV is an example. In my mind, I know it's a really good game. It does so many things well, I like the world and I find it complex and interesting, but, for the life of me, I just cannot enjoy it. There's just enough little things combined that get in the way of it being fun, but I can easily see why somebody would love the game. Just not me, for some reason.
Maybe having too much content can be a bad thing. I like GTA4, but I doubt I'll ever finish it. The story's just too long.

Just thought of another, Torchlight is pretty much the same thing for me. Perhaps I just haven't given it enough play time but I find myself hating on it whenever I do try to play it, think it seems too "generic arpg" or something.
Well, it's got Diablo style game-play, but none of the atmosphere or story. Maybe that's why?

Alone in the Dark...The Broken Physics engine is what did it in for me. I didn't mind the hard controls but a car being launched into the top story of a skyscraper because it ran over a piece of paper? I think not!

Earth 2160. I did try, but I just couldn't bring myself to care about any of the characters at ALL. I cared more about my light tanks than about the commander of my military unit, with the strangely pseudo-RPG inventory system with different types of armour and weapons. However, it is to be commended for making the hero units blander and less interesting than your basic cannon-fodder unit which dies when you sneeze on it.

Company of Heroes. I know it's amazingly well-received and all, but for some reason, I STRONGLY prefer the Codename:panzers series, especially the first one.

Project Aftermath. It was just..... ehh.

Space Siege went this way after a while. I just got bored and stopped playing.

Space Trader could've been an interesting diversion, but it..... wasn't. It was annoying to play.

Saints Row 2 sounded like a fun and interesting game. Then I played it. Somehow, it was..... I don't know, it lacked something I think. I just didn't care about the game at ALL.

Armies of Exigo. Too "classic", too old-fashioned, I guess. Very reminiscent of any RTS game from roughly the decade centred on the turn of the millennium, 1995-2005. Just not interesting.
