Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get away from people that asked what came first, him or the egg

Carl Sagan: It does not matter why, or even if the chicken crossed the road, in the face of the eternal universe. We are all just tiny specs of dust in the face of the universe.

Because he didn't hand in his mortgage payment on time. He can now officially be labeled a 'free range chicken'.

The chicken crossed the road because he just found out that he was late for work so he decided to take a shortcut, then later he got home and realized he was on fire.

Socrates:

Mortals cross the road.
Chickens are mortal.

Therefore, chickens cross roads.

And if anybody understands what the hell that is meant to mean and represent, then you either do Mathematical Logic at university or you are a pretty smart and cultured cookie :)
I live in Greece therefor i get the reference.
Nice one...

Why, you ask?

Why not? In this trying age so many things interfere with one's perception of freedom and individuality. I can say with good conscience that the chicken is simply defending his right to do what he wants for no particular reason at all. If not for that than to show the inevitability of nature overcoming the will of it's paved opressors. I think we can all learn a valuable lesson from this, and hope that some day, we can all learn to follow this brave pioneering fowl across the road, heads on high, hands joined in peace and prosperity.

... right?
