I came to the escapist some two or three years ago, directed here by a friend who said that an old machinima review I did was kinda similar in writing style to Zero Punctuation. I had no idea what the fuck that was at the time, but I was curious and wound up loving the series so I stayed. What spurred me into making an account here though was some controversial topic regarding transgendered people like myself. I saw a person who could use my help in explaining the pains we go through and decided to lend a hand.

A long while ago, there was a very angry Gamestop employee who used Yahtzee's video style to rant about Gamestop on Youtube.
He got a lot of flack for it, so just out of curiosity, I decided to check out the videos he was supposedly "ripping off".

So yeah, it was ZP that got me into the Escapist.
i do believe you're talking about a fellow called razorfist, love that guys reviews.

funny everytime he gets called a zero punctuation rip off, because apparently talking rapidly over still images is a trademark.

anyway on topic, I used to go on a forum called gaia online, nice place, was a thread wondering about why there weren't any women on the forum, as there was already 2 pages of people proving him wrong I instead said something along the lines of "better question, why isn't there more Swedish people around here?".
at that point some awesome gal on that forum pointed me towards the escapist and said that there were a lot of Nordic people around here, surprisingly apparently.
and when i came to the site I noticed extra credits being here and the forums were quite nice and filled with swedes so I decided to stay, I do miss my avatar from gaia though.

Same as the OP, but I got into a few other series before lurking, and didn't lurk very long. Which explains my occasional blatantly uninformed posts.

I actually liked his videos. I've never worked at Gamestop, but a lot of his complaints were standard retail issues I could relate to. Those complaints that we're Gamestop specific made me happy that I didn't work there.

Well despite seeing Yahtzee's videos on Youtube first, it was following Extra Credits that led me here. So a combination of Extra Credits, liking the forums, and wanting to do the quizzes made me an Escapist.

Zero Punctuation. Like most people, I found the site through Yahtzee. Then, I lurked on the forums for a good long while. Then, I joined and have posted sporadically ever since, mostly in Off-Topic. I did go through a phase where I posted a shitton in Forum Games, but I don't anymore because I kind of feel like I'm intruding when I go in there now. Anyway, who needs other subforums when I've got the Publisher's Club :D

For the girls, the money and the fame.

I think I found a thread years ago that I really wanted to voice my opinion on, so I made an account to do that, and I've been here ever since.

I was watching some ZP review on youtube and at the end Yahtzee said that he moved to this site, so i visited, found some interesting web cartoons and when i was done with them i started reading the forums and realised that this is the only place on the internet that has some civil discussions about gaming.
