Ha! Nothing like pure fantasy grounded in mundane realism; like listening to Dick Cheney read the transcripts to furry porn or something.Xsjadoblayde said:Okay, I gotta ask; why are these details so important to adhere to realism while the entire game world is a steampunk power fantasy? Why does magic and psychic talking clockwork hearts and silent protagonists who refuse to defend themselves by just speaking, all get away with the realism criticism, yet a woman's ability and motivation for being an assassin is somehow the breaking point? I am completely and utterly baffled here.Ezekiel said:Because of what I said later.Bombiz said:Wait what's wrong with her being an assassin? Wasn't she tought by Corvo?Ezekiel said:. Assassin would be silly.
Someone mentioned she could learn her duties in the fifteen years between the games, but there are other problems.Realistically, she'd have underground rebels fighting for her, forbidding her from getting herself in danger, since she is vitally important to their cause. Like in Hidden Fortress. She would be learning about politics and her royal duties instead.
If no one will fight for her, why the hell is she trying to reclaim her throne?
Also, assassinating would make it much harder for her to be supported by her people. Prowling and murder is looked down on. There's no way the rebels, if there are any who support her, would risk this identity getting out. There's no need for her to get her hands literally dirty.
You do know that the assassinating is a recent development right? She doesn't sneak out of the palace to kill people, she's just trained. Corvo easily could've just given her sword lessons, and it was established in the previews she she's athletic because she snuck out at night to go running on the rooftops as her way of unwinding.Ezekiel said:Snip

I like shodan from system shock. best female character by very large margin.ZombieProof said:LOL. I find your sexism equal parts comical and sad Bro-CellB-Cell said:I want my games to be badass. you know?
...and like I said on the other site, stating that you like the girl from Portal doesn't count. You barely see her and she doesn't speak(no wonder she's your favorite lol).

Besides, a princess becoming a badass assassin to claim her thrown is dumb. I would have preferred an original character over both.
kinda sad stephen russel voicing corvo yet corvo is not focus of the game story. he should have been next Garrett from thief. way to ruined a potentiall.
Shots fired. You had to go there, didn't you?B-Cell said:Is it to appease gaming feminist extremist to bring a female character as protagonist? who complain about gaming industry invaded by men? or some other reason?
Now, you made me more interested in the game than ever. Does even anyone support her in the first place? Or maybe they don't have enough rebels? It will be fun to see what explanation the game has for getting her life being risked.Ezekiel said:Realistically, she'd have underground rebels fighting for her, forbidding her from getting herself in danger, since she is vitally important to their cause. If she's been deposed (presumably by violence) then there's a pretty short list of ways she can get her throne back and basically all of them require violence. Making her a playable character just means she's getting her own hands dirty instead of convincing other people to get their hands dirty for her.
If no one will fight for her, why the hell is she trying to reclaim her throne?
