In Malta, the skinny look is in - it has always been in. I'm a size 10 or a size 12, but the popular look is skinny - therefore being a bit plump is taboo.
How about instead pointless disagreements you give some evidence of why you think so, preferably in a way that isn't antagonistic or can be perceived as talking down to someone. /modStandby said:I'm sorry but i could sit here all day typing 'wrong' again and again but it still wouldn't get my point across.3.141592654 said:It's not the media.
The media caters to its audience. The notions of beauty we hold are maintained through the media, not generated by it.
That is the most fucking genius idea I have ever heard..... but it's soooo evil..VanityGirl said:*giggles*
Skinny girls who say they are fat are honestly only saying that because GUYS are around. Why? Because we want you to say "You're not fat, you look great" or whatever.
I don't do it personally. (I know I look good)

over half of women in the DEVELOPED WORLD. Anyway i think it's a mixture of hormones and the ludicrous competitiveness a good deal of women have to be prettier than each other. Oh and there are pictures of 'beautiful' stick thin women everywhere these days, and women take these as a set standard of how to look(if only subconsciously).space_oddity said:Because slightly more than half of all the women in the world are, and voice their disgruntlement aloud, and the the other less-than-half want to fit in, because the fat ones might eat them otherwise.
