Well, when I was in high school our sports teams all sucked so the "jocks" weren't really allowed to get away with anythhing like that, more often than not they were often blamed by the rest of the school for always losing, lol.

Not everyone has both, if you had to make a choice, which would you take?beyondbrainmatter said:Those are not mutually exclusive. Lifting weights and philosophy are among my favorite passtimes.Buchholz101 said:I'd like to take this chance to say that I'd rather be intelligent than strong.
And I'm glad to say I am.
Because life and society are both fucked up systems run by the same pieces of shit jocks that do that kind of stuff. At least in most places, at my school nothing like that happens. So just hold out man, things will get better for you in the future.WOPR said:Okay yeah this is a life story but it has a point
I've been beaten up my whole life (weather it be because I'm weird, because I'm poor, or because I'm 18 and have never had a girlfriend)
but in 7th grade (weird/poor) things went too far
the Football team would always hold me down and take turns hitting me
or pelting me with tennis and baseballs
scares bruises and black eyes everywhere
the teachers said "they're just boys being boys"
then one day at the gym, we were doing the rope climb
you climb this really tall rope, ring the bell, then fall onto this really soft cooshy pad so you don't have to climb all the way back down (the pad itself was like 4-5 feet tall, and felt like a tempurpedic bed)
well I rang the bell and slid down the rope a little (because I didn't trust them for a reason) then about half way down the rope I let go and fell for the pad
the quarterback then proceeded to pull the pad out from under me and I hit the hard-wood floor with a loud thud
everyone laughed
I then lost my temper and garroted the quarterback with the rope (wrapped it around his neck and pulled tight) yelling that he would never do that again
then things became very serious; the teacher yelled at the class to "get him off of him" and well yeah you can see where things went
in the end, I got expelled for hurting the quarterback
and when I showed the bruises, crutches, and scars and told them how I got them they said "it's one thing to harm the student body, it's another thing to make up stories to justify it"
...the principal then tried to convince me to take up something to relieve my anger such as football, or baseball, or soccer...
goes to show what a jock he was as well
off note: I ended up taking archery in boyscouts and was the only one that could bullseye every time on the 20 yard target... I was told that I shouldn't take an anger outlet that would let me kill people from 60 feet away with a sharp stick
EDIT: Crap I forgot the question; why is it that the jocks can get away with ANYTHING but the second I defend myself after being badly injured (with 33 witnesses mind you) I get in major trouble?
EDIT 2: sorry actually I wasn't "expelled" I was just "suspended" for a quarter of the year
when I got back the jocks started beating me with bricks (apparently a drunk driver hit the wall next to the church or something)
and I just ran into the office as fast as I could and the second the principal heard my voice and the phrase "law suit"
well...
we had a talk
then I was suspended for my own safety
because he didn't want me to be in an environment where I could get hurt
(you know, because punishing the victim is TOTALLY what you're supposed to do... not punish the [4] offenders!)
EDIT 3: I'm not like this anymore and this has been taken care of (got half the kids there to stop attending and shut down one of the two schools they had... which were right across the street from each other haha)
Just throwing that out there
I'm not really a violent person(yes I am I just keep it in- and blame society)
so no one think I'm a freak or anything lol
just was wondering if anyone else has things like this happen and if this is running rampent
I have to agree - his school is a ****y school. I would have sued their butts for all the money they had and then their parents. Don't matter if your jocks or not, your gonna screwed. I would have set it up so that a cell phone or something other to record the beatings or whatever etc. Play them at their own game. If school didn't own up and fix their ****, local news always works as well, they always like a sob story. Evidence + high media = golden weapon to get attention to your situation.Rockchimp69 said:Because life and society are both fucked up systems run by the same pieces of shit jocks that do that kind of stuff. Cool nerd revenge fantasy, bro.Rpground said:oh i had this problem when i was going to school as well,i remember this one incident when this guy and his friend were beating me...in front of a teacher that did nothing btw, anyway one of them is choking me the other is punching me in the stomach. im a strong guy,but its truly hard to get out of someone's choking grasp while getting pummeled in the stomach. i even yelled for help and got nothing from the teachers.so i was left with the choice of getting out myself...the guy that was punching me i kicked the the shin,i was lucky that he flinched from that. it allowed my the chance to wiggle free of the other guys grasp to take up a metal meter stick against them (i was lucky one of near by),the other guy fled as a wailed on the kick i kicked with the meter stick and not only broke him arm,but i also cut it wide open so it was bleeding quite heavily.at that precise moment the teaches THEN decide to intervene and restrain me,and says im to blame...so the usual happened,i got sent to the principals office and was ORDERED to apologize.i completely refused and was there the rest of the day,the next day there was of course the meeting of the parents and thanks to one of my friends being witness was able to sort out what really happened.i got away with what i did and the other 2 kids for expelled. but the best part is that not only did i get away with it and justice was served, but i also got praise from every other kid in the school. (no really,i was getting high-fives,getting cheered on for what i did. as i was just walking down that halls) this kid was like the kingpin of the school (only real accurate comparison).
so yeah, most jocks do get away with it...but only for so long, then they get whats coming to them. sometimes 100x fold! that how thing usually work out in the end. (i say usually, cause i have seen many-a-time where such a case did not have a rightful ending...)
it aint no fantasy "bro",sorry to disappoint you...Regular Guy said:Cool nerd revenge fantasy, bro.Rpground said:oh i had this problem when i was going to school as well,i remember this one incident when this guy and his friend were beating me...in front of a teacher that did nothing btw, anyway one of them is choking me the other is punching me in the stomach. im a strong guy,but its truly hard to get out of someone's choking grasp while getting pummeled in the stomach. i even yelled for help and got nothing from the teachers.so i was left with the choice of getting out myself...the guy that was punching me i kicked the the shin,i was lucky that he flinched from that. it allowed my the chance to wiggle free of the other guys grasp to take up a metal meter stick against them (i was lucky one of near by),the other guy fled as a wailed on the kick i kicked with the meter stick and not only broke him arm,but i also cut it wide open so it was bleeding quite heavily.at that precise moment the teaches THEN decide to intervene and restrain me,and says im to blame...so the usual happened,i got sent to the principals office and was ORDERED to apologize.i completely refused and was there the rest of the day,the next day there was of course the meeting of the parents and thanks to one of my friends being witness was able to sort out what really happened.i got away with what i did and the other 2 kids for expelled. but the best part is that not only did i get away with it and justice was served, but i also got praise from every other kid in the school. Nothing in this life is more frightening than being cornered by a group of teenage NEDs
But seriously its a a stereotype, there is an element of truth to it (like all stereotypes) but its mostly untrue.
Brain over brawn, obviously, but learning about nutrition, exercise and health in general is also quitte intellectually stimulating. With me, one thing led to the other. The concept of "arete" entails both physical and mental training (Yeah, I'm into ancient philosophy, lol).Buchholz101 said:Not everyone has both, if you had to make a choice, which would you take?beyondbrainmatter said:Those are not mutually exclusive. I wonder who had the most firepower during the columbine school shootings.SuccessAndBiscuts said:They are trying to be dominant (if you see my other post you will see what I mean)
As for Neds vs Jocks the Jocks have one significant advantage, more firepower.
I get why you'd consider learning about nutrition to be intelectually stimulating, but lifting weights and exercising has to be one of the most dull, repetetive and non-intellectual tasks you could spend time on if you ask me.beyondbrainmatter said:Brain over brawn, obviously, but learning about nutrition, exercise and health in general is also quitte intellectually stimulating.
