Why, this doesn't sound that bad at all.
I guess it just doesn't fit any stereotypes, and so, people hate it.

I'd never heard of Japanese jazz before, but after hearing it I think I know why people hate it. Because it's terrible. As for music I hate, I'm going to have to go with Japanese jazz.

I didn't even know there was a thing called Japanese Jazz.
I like it though.
Anyway the only type of music that I like that other people hate are some old songs I listen to.
I get laughed at all the time for listening to that song up there [sub] don't laugh at me I'll throw a ***** fit. [/sub]

This song is pretty good IMO.

Usually I find people only like songs where they know the lyrics, thus a Japanese song wouldn't be overly popular with, in my case, Brits.

Although Rammstein pull huge crowds over here...

Maybe because they're a totally different culture as well as speaking another language.

Or maybe because people only like 3 or less genres of music.

Some people will also only listen to popular music, regardless of the genre but won't listen to any other lesser known songs of that genre.

Best way to put it, it isn't popular because it just simply isn't.

Three words and a symbol: Yoko Kanno & Seatbelts

There is nothing to dislike about Japanese jazz.

Because they secretly hate all Jazz, but will only admit to disliking fringe Jazz music that most of their friends won't listen to, because they're afraid that one or more of their inner circle might be really into the stuff?

S'only explanation I can think of.

(Having personally, a few (5+) years ago, been in the situation where I've said Jazz is the spawn of the devil to people I looked up to, only to find they love the stuff, I can't blame them either! The irony? I actually now quite like Jazz... must be an age thing... or a university thing... I'mma go with university...)

Hate is such a strong word, I think the one you're looking for is... indifference.
