As long as they don't try to stop me from eating meat or run around buring down places PETA style. I have no problem with it.

I don't really care, they don't want to eat meat, nobody's forcing them. But I dislike those who criticise me for enjoying my bacon and say bad things about me. Those guys can go f*** themselves.

Vegetarians?

Why? Its just an eating choice and has absolutely no effect on anyone, yet at the very mention of vegetarianism, people freak out and call them retards and liars.

I myself was in an argument recently with some fucktard on the internet bashing me about my vegetarian life style on YouTube when I mentioned it on a PETA video. I hate PETA and my exact quote was that I don't support them in any way, but I'm still vegetarian, yet I still get assholes who just go on and on about how much they hate it.

So I ask you, Escapist. What are your feelings toward this subject?
What did he say to you? Cause he sounds like a complete butt-hole.

I don't understand or really care about vegetarians or even the rest of the population of earth in that matter. I don't see why the hate towards them unless the person is a jerk.
I think people tend to group them with PETA members or something.

This is the internet. People will bash and criticize you just for the sake of bashing and criticizing you. In real life, it's often pretty much the same, I guess.

I myself do not care whether you eat meat, vegetables, trees or broken glass.
And I'm an omnivore myself.

I don't think it's hate so much as frustration that the cook has to cater especially to someone else.

Imagine cooking a meal that involved meat, then being told at the last minute that there's a vegetarian/vegan present. You either have to scrap the meal or quickly make up something else just for that one person - quite annoying.

Other than that, I have nothing against vegetarians!

People who are not vegetarians associate vegetarianism with the belief that their lifestyle is wrong. Therefore, that belief does not make them happy.

One thing is you are arguing on Youtube.

Second, I don't hate vegetarians, its Vegans actually that annoy the hell out of me when they try to force there beliefs down my throat, in which I go 'Get that hand any closer to my face and I will bite it off and... EAT IT!' Cannibalism is fun to joke about :)
I take a vegan... AND EAT IT!

A lot of vegetarians shun people who do eat meat, and think they are on a higher moral plane for not eating meat, in other words, not all but most vegetarians are self-righteous assholes.

From what I've seen, people don't hate vegetarians, they hate vegans. Usually because vegans try to shove their non-meat eating lifestyle down people's throats.
This basically.
If they shut the fuck up, I'll have no problems with them.

I'll outline the results of a thread where me and Shivari basically made a similar assumption to you and attempted to defend vegetarianism like a year ago now.

It basically turned out that people only hate the over-zealous pro-active vegetarians/vegans that go round waving plaques saying "Meat is murder" and chucking blood at people. Most people (on the Escapist at least) don't give a crap what people do and don't eat, and it's fine to protest so long as you don't get up in everybody's grill in an annoying way. People also don't like being dictated to.

I don't mind vegetarians, but i can't imagine being one myself. Mainly i dislike elitists and zealots - of any kind, vegetarians withstanding.

Sometimes,i dream of a future where meat will be grown on trees,so we don't have to kill animals for it.
called fruit.

but seriously that would be pretty awesome.

The stigma attached to vegetarians is that they want to shove their ideology down your throat. Bad stigma make for bad hatred, its a cruel world so its up to smart vegetarians to right the wrongs

And that's the reason people don't like vegetarians. When they are mentioned, people automatically think of fanatical enraged forceful vegetarians who shout and call others murderers and little hitlers. It's just a misconception. Just like in the case of atheists, christians, Americans or any other controversial group that divides people: a small group of loudmouths make a bad name for a larger group.
For me, I don't like people who try to force other people to do what THEY want and like what THEY like, it's just... I dunno, annyoying, I guess.

PETA-wise, I'm all for the ethical treatment of animals, but those graphic pamphlets and stuff they try to force on people are really disturbing, and I doubt they really help get people to join them.

Besides, there's no rule saying you can't be a carninvore/omnivore AND an animal rights activist, right?
