Why do people rave on about Kesha?

Firsly, I was unaware people raved on about Kesha.

Secondly, who the fuck cares if people rave on about Kesha? In no way does it diminish your own listening experience. Other bands are still getting recognition, you just have to look a bit harder. You can't blame the pop artists for being in the pop charts, if you want to hear some genuinely good music, go to some local venues, or pick up a local street press or hit up the Internet.

I hate her because to me she represents everything that's wrong with our society. I might be able to forgive that if her music was halfway decent, but it's not, and we, as a society, are paying for it not to be. So yeah, I just don't bother with her music.

Spoilt Californian teenage brat writes songs about being a spoilt Californian teenage brat. An example of bad pop music. But that's not to say all pop music is bad.

*Ahem*
Robyn, is a highly acclaimed Swedish independent pop star with a great natural voice who writes catchy electro pop songs about feminism and such and has worked with people like Snoop and ulitmate feminst pop band The Knife.

Good pop music.

Oh and people are too harsh on Lady Gaga. *dives for cover.*

What, you mean no one here wakes up in the morning feelin' like P.Diddy?

Preposterous.
Oh I do.

Besides, in answer to this thread.

You do realize that you just asked a very anti-mainstream (for music mostly) community about their opinions on something that is the definition of mainstream.

OT I listened to one of her songs and found it kind of catchy but then the rest seemed to sound the same or worse. I don't like her music. It just annoys me that most of the mainstream songs these days are getting closer and closer to being just rap. They really don't have much melody, if any.

It's catchy and is fun to dance along to.
It's catchy in the same way as syphilis, and if that's the sort of music you dance to these days, I can't imagine how boring nightclubs must be.
This kind of music is played all the time at high school dances, and EVERYONE does the same exact move. Girl in front, pressing into the guy, grinding a bit, swaying hips. Literally nothing more to it.

I can't dance to save my life, but looking at all that...I'm not sure if I want to.

Industry promotes such people and forcefeeds the public with her. Thus she becomes forced into the collective mind of everyone and thus they buy her crap and the corporations gleefully hop around in their office buildings whiping their ass with dollar-bills.
No, those people are rich enough to pay other people to wipe their asses for them.
Also, the people they pay to wipe their asses don't use dollar bills. They use velvet cloth.

I have no idea who this Kesha is.

But if I had to take a stab at it judging by others reactions, she must be some talentless pop singer.

Am I close?

I see no appeal in her.
Did you just make a "I don't like Kesha"-thread? Wow. Are you also the kind of guy that posts under every youtube video "THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN JUSTIN BIEBER!!!!!!"?

Hating something because many people like it is stupid and does not make you cool. If you didn't like chocolate icecream you also wouldn't run around wearing a T-Shirt saying "I don't like choco-ice".
Disregarding that chocolate ice of course is the best.
I don't hate it to look cool or because it's popular. I seriously don't like her music and I simply wanted a place to vent. But thanks for jumping to a conclusion and giving me false allegations, asshole.

Then don't make threads about her. Did you see what you just did?

Dunno, don't care. So far I've been shutting out musicians who don't interest me, and thankfully I haven't gotten their names shoved down my face all the time.
You just introduced not one but FOUR different Escapist users to Ke$ha, people who had never heard of her before, they now know about her existence only because of your thread.

Correct procedure when you come across music you hate is to ignore it and hope it goes away. Not to start threads which basically function as free advertising. There are certain bands and artists which I truly despise but I'll never start a thread about them, because that would be drawing attention to their activities, and I don't want to do that...

(on the other hand I don't have any strong opinions about Ke$ha really, It's just pop music, what's the big deal...)
Yeah, I see. My apologies.

Because the fantasy that women, in general, enjoy sex and can have fun has been the basis of most facets of entertainment for a number of years?

Ya know, not to be sexist or anything.

I'd say because she's attractive, but she looks like a tramp that sleeps in a skip, so I see no appeal.
I generally don't respect singers who don't write their own music, so I guess I'm bound to not like her.

Basically, people have been brainwashed into thinking that Auto-Tuning actually sounds good, when it actually sounds like a robot hijacked the recording studio. She takes the harsh mechanical buzz of many Auto-Tuned songs and takes it to the limit.

Also, she's probably in a perpetual state of drunkenness. All of that washing your teeth with whisky does that to you. Perhaps it also makes you see Mick Jagger these days as somebody who doesn't resemble an elderly troll.
I was going to say something but I'll just say "what he said" This poser can't but Tony from Sonata Arcitca can sing

She's entertainment. Everyone is entertained by different things. Some people like golf, some like pop music, others like hitting there dick with a hammer. Don't hate on her because some people find her entertaining. And don't hate on others for finding things you dislike to be entertaining.

Entertainment is defined by who we are and what we enjoy. I for one like Ke$ha. I also like The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynryd, Britney Spears, Tim Mcgraw and numerous other talents both musical and theatrical.

We all enjoy a wide range of things and people. It's one of are rights as human beings. And no one should hate us or the people we care about for it.
