Cheaper. So much Cheaper.
Cheapness is wonderful. Why spend 40£ on a game, when I can spend 40£ on THREE games a few months later?

I usually can't, because I'm a PC gamer - but I do also own a Wii, and there are a lot of games for the platform that just aren't being sold new anywhere any more. In those cases, is when I buy them used - or just when I feel like being a cheapskate.

I don't. They don't offer a used market for PC Exclusive players.

I'll wait and buy on sale, though, because I have rent to pay.

Normally I buy new, but only if the game has either A. had a good demo, or B. because I have done a ton of research into the game and have decided that it is a good buy for me.

The only time I buy used is if there is no demo available. Why? because at least with Gamestop I can get the game used try it for a week and if it's utter garbage I don't lose my money. Another time I buy used is if I'm boycotting new sales to certain large companies with shady ethics, like EA. I don't want them to have my money anymore, but their are some franchises under the conglomerate that are actually decent games that I would enjoy playing. Unfortunately there is no way to just give money to Bioware and Not EA. So until Bioware gets out from under EA's shadow, they also won't be getting my money,.

I usually buy used because it's cheaper and I like to help my local traders out. Or if it's the only way I can get game, like Halo 2. I'll buy new from indie/small time devs, but if a major studio releases the game and it's not worth the $60 for me, I'll wait a few months and grab it used for $30. I'm nothing if not patient.

I don't. Not so poor that I will buy a used game for 54.99 instead of 59.99, especially when they probably paid the person less than half that.

For me, it's because there is literally no other way to get Gamecube games.
No affordable way really...I mean on Amazon I could have got Wind Waker new for the Gamecube for...$139.95 and up. I recently got it pre-owned and complete from a local place.

From Gamecube and back; it's hard to find decently priced games from yesteryear new if at all. Here's a fun little exercise: check out Earthbound on Amazon. Last time I checked a new copy goes for about 12k. One of the Lufia SNES titles, also new on amazon, is going for about $1,200 as well.

because when i buy a used game it is generally 50% cheaper than new. if the difference between new and used was only 5-10 dollars, that is one thing. but generally it is 20-30 dollar difference.

that said most of my game budget goes to steam.

Cheaper. It's that simple.

I can buy a brand new high-profile PS3 game for $110. (Australia. Shut up.)

Or I can wait a few months and buy it for $70. (Seriously, stop laughing.)

Or I can wait a few months, trade in some old games and get it for $30.

I make no apologies for saving money. Fuck the developers and publishers. If they want my day-one new game money they can either lower prices or make games that are really worth those ridiculous prices.
Wow, is the australien dollar worth the same as, say, the usd?

I'll only buy used if I don't think it's worth paying ?50 for.

For example, I paid full price for Skyrim and Kingdoms of Amalur, and I'll pay full price for Dragon's Dogma.

After that, I probably won't get a full price game this year unless one really appeals to me. I'll just wait until I can get a second hand copy for half the price.

Yup.

They're almost equal in value. Currently, 1 Australian dollar is worth just over 98 Us cents.

Because I can't afford 50 or 60 euro for a game. Even if I know I will love the shit outta it.

And Cheaper games are much easier to convince myself to buy. If I spend 10 euro on a game I don't like its not as big a deal as if I had have spent 50 or 60

The used games argument may be the single most stupid thing I have ever heard. There is no argument to be had.
Which argument would that be? Your pretty vague.

Used games are cheaper, I take advantage of a lower price and generally if Im buying it used then Im buying it years after its release since I can afford to buy what I want new at the moment so its difficult to find a new copy and it isnt worth the extra £5 they usually charge.
