And like I said, if I'm pretty sure I'll like something, I'll take a chance on it. For example, I heard great things about Catherine and loved the demo, so I bought it day one.
More reasonably priced games, like XBLA and PSN titles are less of a risk for both consumer and publisher, which means everyone's more likely to take a chance on something new. This is the cause of stagnation: games are too expensive for everybody.
