I really loved it when I was 13 but around 17-18 I was bored to death with. It's worse than soap operas and seeing big muscle man ***** fight is pretty patetic if you ask me now when i'm 28.

It's something about how they pull of these really ridiculous moves, which normally would NEVER work. Just pulls me out of the experience. I prefer MMA, if only because Jason David Frank does MMA now.

I haven't seen a wrestling match since I was about 9; my cousins in Ireland would watch it. I wasn't very interested then and now I can't say I enjoy watching people in ridiculous costumes spout bad cheesy one liners and then drop someone on their skull. But hey, to each their own.

I do not hate it, I do not enjoy it. It is far to fake, silly and over dramatic. I prefer UFC because I practice martial arts and it is something I can relate to.

I have many reasons to hate it, but most of all, it glorifies fighting. I don't think there is anything glorious or honorable in fighting and if you resort to it, you're forced to it and just plain defend yourself.

Well, I don't particularly care about sports at all to begin with, I don't care for the whole reality TV feeling it got (there is a reason I stopped watching TV), I also prefer to get my B-entertainment from games and movies, it seems awfully trashy to me and since I live in Sweden me or nobody else really cares about it over here.

This topic assumes I hate pro-wrestling. This topic is wrong.

The only real concerns I have are:
1) There's not enough interesting new talent coming through. Every guy likes more or less identical to the next. Unless the next guy is a girl, in which case they all look generically "modelly", and it's time to visit the concession stand.

2) There's no real competition. WWE have the monopoly and are suitably complacent. TNA is WCW: the 2011 Edition and will take a LOT of effort to get to the same level. Every other company doesn't have enough exposure to be a viable alternative.

Other than that, I enjoy "Rasslin'". I have for years, and will probably continue to do so.

It's because it has a habit of portraying itself as a competitive sport.

A big part of sport is the competition. Working hard to win etc.

If people found out a football(soccer to you yanks) match was "scripted", there'd be outrage. Yet, Wrestling does it constantly. That just doesn't sit right with some people. Myself included.

With the competitive nature removed from any sport, it loses it's essence, it's thrill. It becomes boring.

Movies are scripted, games are scripted, television shows are scripted most of the time, and wrestling is no different.

Yes it's overly dramatic, yes it's a bunch of dudes acting poorly, and yes, it's pre-determined. Doesn't make it any less entertaining than most reality shows out there. I enjoy wrestling very much and will continue to watch it until i can't.

I say if you like something, you have to be able to see it has flaws and have the ability to make fun of it at times. I can do that with comics, games, movies, and wrestling.

Because the only thing they do is talk (if you can even call their brainless dribble that) then preform a gymnastic move that if done under real life circumstances would result in serious injury and/or death. In turn insulting my intelligence, and not in a good way like Futurama.

Because I don't like soap-operas.

I can understand why some people like it, but I just don't.

I don't hate it, but it strikes me as somewhat odd that the fanbase is comprised predominantly of homophobic rednecks, despite the intense homoeroticism and camp theatrics that seems to define the sport.

Hate is too strong a word, real hate takes genuine effort to sustain and it really isn't worth the trouble. Mostly, I think it is a dumb soap opera that feels as if it is aimed at teenage boys and that sometimes has a stunt show in it.

TNA is owned by the WWE. TNA is basically the WWE's farm system. They won't admit it until they have the giant TNA vs. WWE storyline at the end of this year, but it is true.
The sad thing is, it's credible. If that news broke tomorrow, I can't honestly say I would be completely surprised.

Magic Shows have a habit of doing the same thing, even though it's an open secret that it's not real either. So why do they do the show still portraying it as real? Because without suspension of disbelief and the audience at least pretending that it is real it just doesn't work.

Hell going a step further, the Harlem Globetrotters play a rigged game doing stupid things that wouldn't be allowed in an NBA court, why are they respected for their talents but wrestling isn't?

Because of my first line. If they didn't put across that image, and if the more zealous fans didn't try to reinforce that notion so often, I think Wrestling would recieve less hate.

Magic shows is a strange comparison. They still have closely guarded secrets, the thrill comes from trying to guess how they do it (everyone assumes they're smarter than the magician) and failing, you know, that "omg, how did he do that!?" reaction so many get. There is no competition. The magician always wins (so to speak)

As for Harlem Globetrotters, like Wrestling, everyone knows it's fake. A spectacle if you will. But the Harlem matches have never really been about competition, it's more about watching people do amazing things with a ball. And everyone knows that going in.

For the record: I don't "hate" WWE. I just put forward a reason why many dislike it. I used to watch it as a child (I'm 23 by the way, for full disclosure). As I got older I didn't really like the way it was advertised compared to how it actually was. And I started to really dislike some of the more.... enthusiastic fans... You know, the ones who talk about it like it's real. (I still enjoy watching the occassional match for the spectacle, well, the more gymnastic fights at least)
