Okay, by now we can all agree that star wars episodes 1, 2 and 3 were all really, really terrible, and were an affront to the shimmering cinematic diamonds known as star wars. However, hate without reason is unwarranted, so why do we hate these episodes so?

There were two major things for me. Sure I can tolerate the concept midichlorians (as bloody stupid as they were) and Jar Jar Binks' idiocy (that had no rightful place in the films whatsoever), but what I can never forgive George Lucas for was turning my favourite villain of all time, Darth Vader, into a whining little *****, played by perhaps the worst actor ever conceived.

The second thing that ruined it for me? The fact that the Geonosians invented the death star. Because you know, we all know that Bevel Lemelisk invented it, not some retarded bug creatures.

So, what are your reasons?

I saw the original trilogy and got to progressively see how much Mr "i kill my own franchise to make more money" Lucas rapes the name of Star Wars.

Jar Jar Fucking Binks was a rather large factor in my distaste(I won't say I "hated" them) for the movies. And the fact that he never died.
Another bit is the whole "...I hate sand. It's so...sandy. And you...you're not sandy. And that is why I love you[footnote]Yeah, I know it's from stickwars, but dammmit, that's about how it sounded[/footnote]
The whole whiny ***** teenage rebellion version of Darth Vader was quite irritating too.

Because the Force was reduced from some great unknown power throughout the universe....to Microscopic Bacteria called Midi-chlorians....Wow Lucas!! Just Freaking WOW!!!!

Secondly...I loved Jango Fett! I loved the origin of the Storm Troopers..but sadly the only cool character got Killed off...

Oh Also so did General Grievous!! Sucky death..

Well they just didn't have that same feeling of fun. They were always so brooding and politically orientated. Yeah they had Yoda fighting and Christopher "OHMYGOD" Lee but it just felt as if it was pandering to all diehard fans.

Because they went into a little too much detail on what happened before everyone cared, and they filled people in on stuff that they couldn't have cared less about, like how the force originated. If it were done better, then it'd be interesting.

For me, it was the shoddy story-writing, the mis-casting of key roles (Anakin Skywalker, I'm looking at you!), the convoluted and overly confusing storylines (you know, I STILL have no idea what went on in the second movie plot wise?) and the general feeling that big explosions, set pieces and CGI can gloss over any other faults.

Actually, now I come to think about it, I didn't enjoy the Star Wars prequels because they felt like Micheal Bay movies.

Nuff said.

I don't hate them, but I feel that they compromised the imagination and wonder of the series with too many special effects and action sequences. The original trilogy was a well-defined world which you felt like you were only seeing a tiny fragment of, the new trilogy tried to show you everything. And each action segment was completely unique, a razor sharp punctuation mark on the free-wheeling dialog.

Of course, another big part of it probably had to do with the old saying. "If you eat three pounds of sausage, which one is best?" The first pound.

The story telling was horrible, most of the characters were boring, the first two were boring throughout the entire movie, the third one became more of an action movie, and finally...Jar Jar Binks. It was sort of entertaining for the first 10 minutes in the first movie...then it got old, very very old.

I feel like the original movies couldn't do anything that the new ones could, so they made really good character driven stories. Now they had tons of special effects and forgot what made the original ones so good.

1. Lack of Han Solo.
2. Anakin.
3. Anakin.
4. The fact that Lucas managed to get a fantastic actress like Natalie Portman to act like a piece of plywood.
5. Anakin.
6. Surprisingly, not Jar-Jar in the long run. I hated him originally, but over time i've realized he doesn't bother me.
7. Too much cgi makes it look less realistic than the original movies.
8. Anakin.

Well, the story is lackluster in all points, doing a Prequel is always pointless when you know the ending to the story, there a bunch of inconsistencies in the plot, Jar Binks, annoying actors, Jar-Jar Binks, A lot of the fight scenes seem rather lack-luster (That isn't to say that the first was any better, but when on par with 90s technology, it could have been better. After-all, isn't that the whole reason why he wanted to wait before doing the prequels?), Anakin and Padme are suppose to be one of the few center of attentions, but their actors can't actually hold up when compared to the original actors and Jar-Jar Binks.

(Yes, I hated Jar-Jar that much.)

Honestly I hate them for many reasons:
.Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan race in general.
.The use (And lack there of.) of Darth Maul.
.The creepy ass look Anakin gives Padme constantly (Seriously, he looks like a date rapist every time he does it.)
.The fact that from episodes 2 to 3 there's a chunk of story missing.
.Grivous.
.The pointlessness of the wookie army/brute squad.
.Midichlorians...(Or however you spell it.)
.Anakin's falling into lava scene...And his random moment of being lit on fire AFTER getting out of the lava.
.Emo-Vader (..NNNnnnnnNNnoooooOOOoooooo....)
.George Lucas. (Seriously, he doesn't know what he's doing anymore.)

And lastly and most relevantly all three movies are contradicted in the original trilogy.

i actually enjoyed ep.1, well the end anyway. i think they made the majority of it terrible just so the darth maul duel at the end would be doubly epic; so it kinda balances out for me. yoda fight was too short to excuse AoTC, nor was anakin vs kenobi epic enough to warrant the rest of the atrocity that was RoTS.

jar jar sits right below the crows from dumbo in my list of offensive fictional characters, for his pure, relentless annoying pointlessness. i still have no idea where the clone army came from, why they were made, and i dont think lucas does either; he remembered ben mentioned a clone war in a new hope, so he put some clones in it and made a very poor attempt at explaining their existence. the battle droids were nearly as stupid and annoying as jar jar. and of course there is haydan christian-whatshisname, who in no way meshes with the established awesomeness of darth vader. vader was always the lawful-evil type, why does anakin never make it past chaotic-whiny?

other than that, there was actually plenty of potential for some good movies; CG crazy yoda duels, mace windu, jango fett, and young kenobi; it had everything it needed to be a great addition to the star wars saga, but lucas...kinda is crazy now. got too popular, too cocky.

You start out downgraded...

ok.

Then you fight and kill the evil in the universe

ok.

Then you find out why you existed in the first place and that before then it had awesome stuff.

...wha!?!

And that your love interest that's inlove with that bounty hunter is your SISTER.

....*rage face*

The dialogue used to be the best thing about star wars. Phantom it was uninspired. Embarrassing at times. The plots made little sense, especially the loose end tie up session at the end of revenge. It became all about spectacle over substance, which was the worst bit of Jedi, because as flashy as a big battle is, it isn't that entertaining if it goes on for too long.
Also, Anakin is laughable, and to try and make us believe that vader came from that...idiot is stupid. Also, he's meant to be the main character, the one we relate to. And he's just downright unlike-able.
Also, why the fuck is a clone army less expensive than a republic droid army?! Why the fuck is grievous so shit when he was so awesome in the animated version?! Why the fuck was there any doubt that Naboo was under attack when they could have taken, I don't know, a FUCKING PHOTOGRAPH to the senate?! Why the fuck can a blaster not go through a gungan shield but a physical object can?! Come to think of it, why the fuck do the gungan use throwing weapons when they have shield technology?! Come to think of it, why the fuck the gungans?! And other plot holes I won't bother exploring.

I don't "hate" them, but I will admit that they were not as good as they could have been. Even so... I actually kinda liked the third prequel movie. It had bad acting and all the other problems that the other prequel movies had (actually, ALL the Star Wars movies had bad acting except for Harrison Ford, and even he had a few issues), but it was interesting for me.

For me its the acting that ruined it. The stories could have been acceptable if they had more to back them up.
