Episode one has it's moments, episode two is under rated and episode three was what we'd been waiting for. I don't hate them, they're just not as good as four and five. Six, however, can bugger off.

I dislike all of the Star Wars movies. They were shoved down my throat by my parents when I was young, so I've grow sick of them.

Terrible acting (from otherwise competent actors) - check.
Terrible terrible dialog - check.
Jar Jar freaking Binks - check.
Midi-chlorians - check.
A metric ton of stupid coating every other element of the bloody films - check.

The only positive thing you can say about the Star Wars prequels is that the effects look good (when they aren't being used to render stupid things), and lightsabers are still cool. Everything else was execrable[footnote]A more eloquent way to say shitty.[/footnote].

That trilogy is compelling evidence that Lucas has either gone insane during his extended absence from directing (the original Star Wars film was the last one he directed prior to The Phantom Menace) or, more likely in my estimation, the original Star Wars trilogy was an accidental masterpiece brought about by creative control and the constraints of his budget/limitations of technology at the time of filming. Based on his continued efforts to 'fix' those films, it's pretty clear Lucas didn't really grasp what made them a success in the first place.

But why do I hate those films? Because an entire generation of kids has grown up now for whom those cinematic abominations are Star Wars - nobody deserves that sort of punishment. Me, I can do my level best to forget the prequel trilogy exists, but kids? They probably liked the films, and I'm going to bluntly come right out and state that if you actually think that any of Star Wars prequels are good, there is something deeply wrong with your ability to differentiate between "shit" and "not shit" (for which you have my pity). Lucas has poisoned the minds of the future, and I shudder to imagine what will happen if they ever start making films inspired by their fond childhood memories of shit.

I don't hate them, I enjoyed them all to some level or another and I think they have the best lightsaber duels of any of the movies (lightsaber duels are my favourite part of any Star Wars film)

Problem was, I used to be one of those kids who thought they liked the prequels BECAUSE OF THE SPECIAL EFFECTS AND CRAZY LIGHTSABER FIGHTS MAAAANNNN. Kids are stupid.

How much I was an idiot. I must've known there was something completely wrong about them though, as I always preferred the original trilogy.

They weren't THAT bad. The first one, maybe, but the second and third films were decent enough. The duel on Mustafar and the Battle of Geonosis was epic.

oh, i dont hate the prequels, i like them (like...not love...not even close)

but i think george lucas had no one to challenge his ideas. thats why the prequels fail.
now ill be honest, i do watch the show. they are written by other people and george only produces them, so they are actually better than the prequel movies. now i will argue that one good thing from the prequels is the expansion of the star wars universe.

Okay, by now we can all agree that star wars episodes 1, 2 and 3 were all really, really terrible, and were an affront to the shimmering cinematic diamonds known as star wars.
I disagree. I liked them more than the original trilogy.

The original trilogy are boring to me.

And to all those complaining that Anakin was too whiny; What do you think the most evil, powerful person in the galaxy should be like when they're young?

Anakins character was written perfectly for what he would later become. If he was a happy, appreciative, obedient pupil of the Force, he never would have become Darth Vader.
I see what your saying about Anakin's development into Darth Vader, but whiny is going too far. Brooding? Of course. Vindictive? Heck yeah, a desire for "justice" can lead to evil. But whiny? Nah, I don't accept it.

I don't hate them.
Also I find it kind of funny that there are atheists who are upset about the Force coming from microorganisms and not being some mystical energy while I, a monotheist, am fine with it.

There are a miriad of different reasons, but here's two. One, it ruined the idea of a jedi. Instead of being wise wizard samurai who fight for peace, often more mentally than physically, there are now either grunts or guys who sit in a room and discuss politics, and are basically the governments watchdogs where they are used by higher powers to settle trade disputes and deal with other such minutia (instead of perhaps freeing all the slaves on tatooine, which never even occurs to them). And the fall of Anakin Skywalker is ridiculous, and never actually happens. Sure in one he's a mary sue, but once he's an adult in the next movie he's right away a facist motives and genocide (you mean the guy who when he got pissed and killed an entire tribe of sand men, women and children wasn't the chosen one oh my). Plus a lot more.

  • movies don't have to adhere to our reality where magic isn't real
Atheists generally get pissed off by psudo science bullshit that doens't fit into a world of science fantasy
Midochlorians made someones strenght in the force a number, not something you acheive or gain or wisdom or enlightenment.

Ok the prequels weren't amazing movies, but I believe the biggest problem with them is no one was willing to tell Lucas to STFU

They didn't retcon needing training and all that though, it's not like he was born with Jedi abilities.

Mostly just bad writing and a poor choice of characters, the plot didn't really make much sense and sometimes read like a U.N. report on some African conflict (I'm looking at you, Episode 1 text crawl).

I didn't hate them. What I didn't like about the films could be solved by a little editing, and a new actor to play Anakin.

Also something just occured to me the other day. Padme dies because she "loses the will to live" (bullshit in and of itself), but she just had two babies. She reality couldn't give a shit about her children enough to want to see them. So Luke and Leia's mother didn't really care about them one bit. She's just as bad as Anakin.
Wow, I never thought of that before. XD -1 points for Padme!

I thought they were pretty good. Maybe not timeless like the first 3 but still a good time at the cinema.
