to make yourself feel noticed in the world, hoping everyday that i check it someone has responded to one of my posts and making other posts so that more people will check it. Forget reality, this is actuality

(Btw if anyone actually believes that/does that it's a little sad and you should go get help)

Because I wuv you all...And I´m drunk. Not really, not much, yet.

Because even a hermit, like I, has the urge to communicate every now and then. It´s fun and enlightening. Besides, it seems kinda hard nowadays to find decent companions for a semiserious gaming related discussion. Quite vivid off-topic rambling further puts the cherry on top of the delicious Escapist cake.

I miss forum life. Before I got a real social life a few years ago, I basically lived on forums, and sometimes when I'm too busy studying I don't have time to see my real friends. So I come here to fill that social void. For some reason, I remember forum-posters as being more intelligent, though. Perhaps it's because I frequented the only forum that admitted it wasn't really all that intelligent.

I came here to vote for my favorite developer for March Mayhem and wanted to check out the forums. See what others are playing and maybe get some opinions on some other games to check out. After reading the bulk of the opinion on the Turbine / Valve thread it has been made obvious to me that because I'm new and a Turbine supporter that I'm not a "real Escapist" and I should leave. Some have been very kind and I appreciate it though.

Because I NEED to get that Neo Badge!

And because I am often bursting with opinions like some sort of bursty thing.
I'm going to wait until you get to 4900 posts, then just heckle everything you say, until eventually you get banned.
*Walks of cackling*
*Trips over a rock, looks around, nobody saw it... or did they?
*Keeps walking*

In all seriousness, because the community is very good, the website is interesting and I catch up on a lot of the gaming news/rumors I hear from this site.

For the most part, I don't. I just read only commenting when I really want to put in my opinion

Because this is one of the few sights that people actually back up their opinions and have some generally adult and civil conversations. There definitely are the slew of worthless threads and such but most of the threads have alot of people that actually want to debate without flaming or putting down someone else.

Because i can learn alot of from other peoples opinions on topics, by posting my own opinion, i can be quoted and proved wrong, or have my opinion expanded on. Either way i win :)

So, why do you do it?

this forum has become that site I check every time I'm bored or procrastinating.
That's my reason, and I do it in my AP Comp Sci class pretty often because I always finish my work early. I've done nothing but play games, go on forums, and sleep the past 3 weeks in Comp Sci, and I still have a 100%.
You must be doing an extremely pointless course. :p. I took a comp sci class before, and the guy never talked about anything about a particular programming language or syntax or anything like that. He went on and on about design patterns, modularisation, re-factoring, and project management. I didn't understand a single word he said, so I thought it must be really important to go to his classes and stay awake......

I write on it for something to do when i'm bored. Plus like everyone else I assume (probably falsely) that people care what I think.

To kill time. Also the anonymity of the internet is fun, you can type whatever you want and not have to see someone giving you a dirty look because you have a different opinion than them.

But mostly to kill time.

A mixture of habit and addiction. I check it very often out of habit, and I spend nearly a quarter of my spare time at home on it because of addiction.

I post because I am to lazy to work. I also like to practise my English writing skills, and of course learning skills too. The topics are highly interesting, and I gain new insights daily by some interesting posts of other users. And I like pony's!
