Well... I don't really prefer one platform over the other - i can play games quite well on all 3 and i don't prefer the actual experience with any (well, except the PC and it's KB/M control scheme, but that's only marginally and i digress) . However, i prefer PC, and i'll stick with it for the foreseeable future, mainly for one reason.

Proper multi-tasking and alt-tabbing.

Namely, YouTube alongside games. I have a dual screen display so I can still watch while i'm playing a game. And in general, the ability to just stop gaming for a while and instantly start doing something else for a bit, then instantly get back is great.

PC because:

- Faster loading
- Better graphics
- Better control for first person games
- My PC is less likely to get the PC equivalent of the RROD
- If something needs to be fixed or upgraded on my PC, I don't need to buy another PC

Bonus:

- The 360 does have nice Netflix software, the PC software is better designed and faster

PC, because it's objectively superior on every criteria you could possibly judge a gaming platform on.
Apart from the 3 C's. Convenience, Compatibility, and Cost. Though if you can put up with these or don't mind budget PC's without all the bells and whistles, PC is undeniably for you.

OT: I use PC and 360, with the 360 acting as emulator for my old XBOX era games with compatibility issues and for multiplats where my 360 playing friends will make for better gaming chums than my PC playing friends.
Convenience, it can be used for more than just games. You don't need the disc when playing games.

Compatibility, with just a little bit of work you can play games made 20 years ago, use any kind of controller

Cost, PC games are generally cheaper on release. Even budget PCs can play new games at the same fps as our current consoles.

OT: I am mostly a PC gamer mostly out of convenience. I like using a controller, and I don't mind the wiimote that much. So when I want to play a game the choice is based on if my PC is on or not. Since it is on almost all the time that's what I pick. I also don't have to look after the correct disc since it's all on my computer.

PC for my fps' and strategy games, also some rpg's(dragon age, witcher) and you cant beat steam.
PS3 for blu-ray, netflix, most action/fighting games. Also all my friends/family/co-workers own PS3's so on the rare occurrence i want to play a couple of online street fighter/tekken matches i can. PS3 controller feels right in my hands while the 360's feels a bit too large for me.

I have a PS2, a Wii and a PC, and the PC is what I play on 99.9% of the time. Even if I had a 360 or a PS3 I don't know if I'd play them all that often. I enjoy being alone (which I always am at home) when I'm playing on the PC, whereas with consoles I prefer to have someone to talk to while I play.

I'd like to have a controller that frikken works properly on my computer though. [sub][sup][sub]Godsdamn piece of gamestop piece of useless shit...[/sub][/sup][/sub]

You could use an XBOX 360 controller on your PC.

If I had the money I would own all platforms and have an fantastic game room of greatness with a collection of all forms of gaming that can fit in it.

But, right now, I game mainly on my Xbox360. A couple years ago, when I would go over the house of the one friend that would always host the game nights, I would end up having to split screen with whoever drew the short straw. All three of my friends that were there owned 360's, so when I got the money, I purchased an 360 bundle that came with Halo 3 and Fable 2.

I actually had to coax GameStop into letting me get that bundle. The week before I had been in and saw the display for it and saw they had some, then when I came back the next week, it had been all taken down and I didn't see any. All I saw were bundles that had Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones. I asked one of the workers if they still had some of the other bundle. He was hesitant, and asked if I really wanted that bundle. I was of course very adamant when I said yes. He then went into the back and came out with one; he said that they had three left in the back, that they had left them back there because they wanted get the Kung Fu Panda bundles to sell. I was thinking, "Well yeah, only the kiddies with parents would buy that bundle, and at the time the 360 really wasn't a kid friendly system".

Now, why do I prefer it:

I consider it to have the best controller. Some people harp on it because it is too big or to heavy. The weight is perfect, it lets me know it is there and it will stay put if I make sudden movements or slips. I have really small hands, and I find that the controller fits perfectly in my hands, which seems like what would be the opposite of what one might think. Besides, I heard that the PS3 controllers are very similar to the PS2 controllers, and I found the PS2 controller very clunky; the button layout was messed up, especially with the analog sticks so close together, I found myself messing up in some games when using both analogs, because my thumbs would end up hitting each other. That is why I cringe when people say that the analogs on the 360 controller are all wrong and should be next to each other. The 360 layout makes the use of the D-pad easier, because reaching down with my left thumb feels more natural than reaching up like what would be on the PS3.

Also, I like the 360's achievement system the best, the achievements look more individualized for each game than the PS3's trophies. On a smaller note, I like the gamer card display for the the 360 best on forums, because it shows the last five games I played. And seeing 15000 something score to me, looks better than showing that I have close to 800 achievements.

When comparing it to PC gaming, it was just cheaper. Two years ago, I paid $440 for that 360 bundle with a 3 month live card. Before I decided on getting it, I looked at what I would have to pay to get a gaming PC that was powerful enough to keep up with the latest games coming out for at least four to five years(wanting to avoid the costly 3 separate upgrades I had to do with in a span of 4 years with my old PC. I found that I would have had to spend well over 1200 dollars to get the gaming PC I was looking for, and from what I have seen, it still looks like that is the case today, so until I can get a job and save up something like 1500 dollars, I won't be getting a gaming PC anytime soon.

I know 440 dollars won't buy me proper gaming computer today. My dad spent around that much 2 years ago to get me the PC I have now, and it can't even play games that came out in 2007, and it barely can play WoW. My dad told me he wasn't going to spend the extra 250 bucks to upgrade the graphics capability. Granted that 400 some price tag didn't include a monitor, since I already had one.

PC gaming and PC sales would do a whole lot better if it was made mandatory that the bottom of the barrel priced PCs came with the capability to run at least games that came out before it was made that year. PCs are not as cheap as people claim they are. Some of the specs and prices people throw up, are just plain unreal for the prices they say they paid, they have to be buying on some Voodoo PC black market.

I love all my systems, but I prefer my xbox 360. It has the most natural feeling controller for my hands, I like the nxe interface because I like to look around at what new games and dlc is coming soon. Nxe basically puts it on your screen first thing unless you boot to disc(I don't). Really that's it. Xbox live I can take or leave as I'm just not much of a multiplayer gamer.

The Xbox was cheaper, and I have too many games for it to switch to any other platform. Also, Mass Effect was still an exclusive back when I bought it, which clinched the deal.

Simple question here: What makes you prefer to play games on your platform of choice?
For example, my brother favors the 360 primarily because he loves to rent. Most places seem to get more 360 copies of games, meaning less wait time, and he claims (probably rightly so) that there's a lot less downloading required for 360 games. He also prefer to play on Live (mostly because of his friends being on it).
As for me, I favor the PS3 mostly because I've always been a fan of the Sony consoles, so the controller feels more natural.
Meanwhile my roommate prefers his computer because of Steam Sales and that he's working with it constantly anyways (he can instantly switch from work to play when he feels like it as he says).

So how about you all? What are your primary reasons as to why you play one platform more than the rest? It can be technical or otherwise (such as preferring a console but playing a handheld because the TV is almost always in use or something like that).

Please keep things civilized here.
I have all the consoles, but I prefer my PS3, I had a PS1 and 2 so the controller feels more natural to me (though I HATE the trigger buttons). I also prefer the menus on the PS3, les clutter and in your face advertising, and I can actually find stuff there.

Mind you the 360 isn't bad at all, just prefer the PS3 that's all.

I like the Xbox because it's been the console I've been playing the longest; started playing when I was about 10-ish and when I did play I was playing co-operative Halo with my dad so Xbox has a special place in my heart. Mostly if I have to choose between which platform, it comes down to what platform my newest game is on.

PC because it's universal, the games for it are getting increasingly shitty but I can't help lazy ass development.

I don't really have a straight answer to this. Xbox 360 was cheaper, so I bought it before the Playstation 3, so I play it more because I have more games for it. But personally, I prefer the Playstation 3, mostly because I don't have to pay to play online. I never go online anyway, but it just feels like they're being less greedy. I dunno, maybe it only makes sense to me.
