Meh, it's fun. Heck, it's great. But it got old for me, as do all online multiplayer games. I know a couple people who have put over 500 hours into it, and I just don't see how.

To Valve's credit, though, they've done an extremely commendable job of providing free updates. The game has grown to about 3-4 times the size it was at launch, all for free.
Are said updates PC exclusive?
Yes. But there is a rumour Xbox will get them all after they do the engie update.
But the PC version is where it's at.

I feel like I would be hung from a tree from my intestines if I said, "I didn't really like TF2..." Well, because...I didn't.

I had Orange Box for the 360
Seemed like a more mature atmosphere amongst the people online, that said though, there just wasn't THAT many people online. I've long since got rid of my XBL account so I don't know if its still true. I hear the PS3 version is dead

Eh, hence the saying "To each his own."

It is fun and easy to play. Also the class updates keep it feeling fresh and give people something to come back for.
Personally, I suck at combat shooters like COD or BF, but I can do my part and contribute pretty decently in a game of TF2. That maybe the biggest reason why I have spent so much time with the game.

I don't like most PvP action; it always gets so bitter, and I rarely have the skills necessary to contribute. I Like TF2 'cause there's always a way for me to help out my team. Need teleporters? Medic.
Have a spy issue? I can be pyro for a while.
Need a Teleporter/despenser? Engineer does nicely.
When I'm playing at non-experts, I can even hold my own as a heavy for defense.
If the cart needs lifeless bodies to throw on it, I can do scout for a time.

I'm terrible at the game, but Hell if I can't feel like I'm helping.

Well that is quite simple actually it's a combination of great gameplay, excellent designs for levels and character, good balance between classes (although I haven't played a single game with the patches that add new guns and whatnot so I don't know if it's still as balanced as it originally was) and great humor, but then again somebody probably had already mentioned this but I'm too lazy to check.

I'm part of the minority that hasn't played TF2 yet. I got nothing against the idea of the game, just never got around to it. By now, I suppose if I haven't played it yet, it is just a mere mockery of the former glory it once held that drew so many people. If not, I wouldn't know the difference. Perhaps some day I'll stop posting on the forums here long enough to give it a try.

I'd like to think that the escapist has patrons that have taste in games.

Overall, i've never been on a game forum with a higher level of intellect or actual taste in games.

It seems that people on here simply recognize good game design and fun gameplay when they see and play it.

It's actually the opposite, at least in my opinion. It's kind of like a good wine, the older it gets, the better it is.

It was the closest thing I could get to old-school Quake-style FPS gameplay on my 360, without being the mediocrity which is Quake 4. Then I got bored of it.

Because its awesome. Because we love Valve, and of course because shooting people in the face or making sentries to do it for you is just bad ass fun.
