Whatever way the multi makes me feel..

The single player campaign was one of the best 8 hours of my gaming life.

Yeah it's OTT, silly, overblown and makes no sense but Jesus, we're gamers. I thought we liked that kind of thing.

I personally enjoy it,. Admittedly, I can't play multiplayer, so that isn't much of a deal with me. Sure, there are some things that bug me, like the lack of leaning around corners and such, but it was still a very solid campaign.

I'm also jealous of my friend, who owns it on the 360 while I use PC, cause I seem to have been screwed over on that one.

I love MW2's multiplayer. Yes, it is very flawed, but it is also very fun. The spawn system, perks, weapons, killstreak rewards and so on needs balancing and fixing, but hey, it's fun.

I didn't like MW2 in the slightest. Week after it came out I rented it for my PS3 solely because there was no dedicated server support for the PC I wasn't going to be buying it for PC (still haven't brought it, go me?) but I still wanted to run through the single player and then test out the multi-player.

The single player was...alright, but overall i felt it was meh, which was a shame because I absolutely loved MW1's storyline and unlike MW1 I found no replay value in the story.

Another issue I had was that of the time it took to complete, now I rented this game on a Saturday Morning around 12, and I had made plans to go out to a few pubs with some friends at around 8. In this time I managed to complete it in one sitting, this is one of the few games I have been able to do this with, and for the price it would have cost me to buy... really not worth it.

And then theres the multi-player, the only saving grace it has is the co-op, its good and its fun, other than that the multi-player is just day-ja-fucking-vu. It just seemed very much like I was playing MW1 just with some different weapon skins, some new perks and different maps, nothing really had changed.

So yeah, didn't really like based on the dedicated server fiasco, the price, the time and quality of the single player. But that is just one fellows opinion of it all, and the reasons for my opinion of why I don't like this game.

Why do people hate MW2? I don't know, why people hate Halo? Why do people hate Gears of war? Why do people hate any game that seem to get popular?

It seems the more popular a game gets, the more hate it also receives. I see it as this. Some people just hate the fact that the games mention above get more attention than theirs.

They hate that they always see the hype around it while their game gets little to no attention at all.

They don't really hate the game in mention because most haters have never played the games, but they just hate the fanbase behind it. Which I myself am. I don't hate the game, I hate the fanbase.

Plus this sites seems to hold all the Halo, G It's like a ears, and Modern Warfare haters out there. It's like the HQ or them.

That's funny because this line is used in every game that is popular on why the game sucks. I hope this proves a point about something

So maybe it's not "because this game houses many 12-year-olds." Instead you guys should be saying "Online play of any kind holds a lot of 12-year-olds who shouldn't be one the games anyway, but do because their parents are dumb enough to buy it for them."
True... Parents should really pay attention to the big M rated and +17 on the box and not blame the game developers when they see their child chainsaw some guy in half in the game.

Cause they suck at it. It's pretty balanced if you don't play stupid.
Tell that to the sniper I killed with duel M1887s at a range only a sniper rifle should be effective. And of course, there's the choppers which I thought were an idiotic idea to start with and shouldn't have even been in the original. I have to admit though, I never had a problem with knifers that everyone else seems to. Also, BC2 is better in every way, at least in terms of multiplayer.
1887s have been nerfed twice for a while to where they are useless, helicopters are easy to kill stinger+cold blooded.

Everything in the game has a counter, its just not everyone uses them. Hence the appearance of lack of balance.

I have a theory...

Positive feedback loops are a dangerous design tool. Most modern games (Mario Kart being an excellent example) even things out over a large skill set with Negative feedback loops. People who are wining and doing well start to find it very, very hard to continue pressing the advantage. In the very back, you get the best items, and have to dodge an occasional bannana, assuming no one else has hit it first. Towards the middle, the people farther back are getting better powerups to shoot at you. Near the front, there is a ton of more shells and such going after you. And in the ultimate example, if you're in the lead, you must fear the blue shell. This makes the game more casual, and more accessible, because everyone is always, "in the game", though questions of strategy suddenly fly out the window. MW2 is the opposite: get a few kills, get a nice kill streak. Kill streak brings more kill streaks. Your teammates do better, which means you do better, and get kill streaks. It all spirals in the opposite direction of Mario Kart. This can easily seem unbalanced and frustrating, particularly if you are married to the idea of traditional shooters. However, it undermines the spirit of the game: MW2 is about continuing with your momentum as far as possible, and trying to not have it end. And a single kill after your killstreak by a clever opposing player will reset all of your momentum. A nuke might seem cheap, but really, it is the result of a player doing an excellent job of preserving there momentum, and maximizing feedback loops. Its not bad, its a different that many more regular players will interpret as bad.

Of course also, its because MW2 got shafted on the PC port, Escapist has a lot of PC gamers, and its so popular it can't help but always be talked about.
Though I don't think your point is not valid about the Nuke, it only applies to Free-For-all and Team Death Match since in other game modes like Capture the Flag, Headquaters or Domination, some other objective based team game mode, it allows for a team to win a game for one player being good at killing people and ignoring the objectives. It would be like if somebody can win at a chess game if they can kill all the other opponets pawns, even if they end the game with only a king and a pawn while the other player still has his king, queen, a bishop and both rooks left.

Again, as with my TF2 question, it seams that so many people here hate MW2 multiplayer. Again, I agree with them, but why does everybody else here seem to hate it? I can't go one day with out seeing several threads about how bad the game is, what is that encites so much hatred on this site? Is it the horrible balance? The "get instant killed by every cough" gameplay? The amount of easily exploitable cheap tactics and the amount of camping? The amount of 12 year olds in every, single, game? A "win any game by getting enough kills" mechanic that the Nuke presents? Why does MW2 get so much universal rage from this site?

(Please don't flame me, I am just curios as to why the game gets so much negative attention here)
Ok the fact that you say EVERYBODY i think that alone gives a bad impression on your topic since some people like MW2.
Ok... I will change that in my original post. I will change it to "a lot of people". Sorry about making usumptions about the people of this site.

as someone who has poured (probably far too much of) my life into the 360's MW2 multiplayer, i can honestly say i find myself questioning where people get this "rage" thing from.. seriously it's like people on xbox live are subjected to the 28 days later virus the minute any match ends, regardless of the outcome.. I've been playing CoD online since 2 or 3 dont remember exactly and can honestly say i've enjoyed all of them, and continue to, maybe it's just my personality type because when people rage at me for things i do i usually counter by saying 'if the throwing knives and javelins i use take no skill hold on let me copy your class' then destroy them with their own weapons for a while before switching back to mine and laughing all the way to the win.

I can also say i really dont find the killstreaks broken but to avoid sounding like a broken record Xanadu84 i totally agree with your theory on momentum, and for those who say campers with a nuke ruin objective based games, a well-placed rpg (or javelin if they're outside) can really ruin their day, also, 12 year olds actually amuse me because you can (oftentimes) get them so frustrated hilarity ensues, i literally had one crying last night because every time he camped = flash grenade + throwing knife.

I cant say anything about the PC version as i haven't played it, but i feel a decent job was done on the 360 version, and at the end of the day, well, it's just a game, like it or not.

Okay. Here is a small list:
-Very unbalanced. (Damn those pesky little knife throwing bastards)
-Full of idiots.
-Overpowered kill streak rewards.
-Too much camping.
-Good internet connection=victory.
-Very bad spanwning mechanism.
-again, TOO UNBALANCED!

But then again, the campaing is quite fun, even if it's way too short.

The knife alone is reason enough I don't like MW2.
That thing is completely overpowered, and when running around with a knife is often more effective than a gun in a shooting game, something is wrong.

Bad Company 2 is vastly better, even if a lot of the people who came over from Modern Warfare immediately settled on back of the map sniping Recon as their playstyle of choice.

Edit: Also I hate being told I'm just jumping on some bandwagon because I hate MW2. That's bullshit. I liked the first game a lot, and MW2 completely fucks everything I liked about it up the ass. Even the campaign wasn't nearly as good, with only one part I particularly liked and some good quotes being pretty much the only redeeming part.

Probably the littlest known issue that we have to pay for thanks to Infinity Ward's greedy and successful scheme is that it destroys relationships. It starts with you getting pissed off, friends getting pissed off at each other. Then giant group events become one ragey get-together.

People fool themselves into believing something is worth salvaging and then become enclosed into a false reality all because they are afraid they are missing out. I would not doubt most of the online community is lost individuals in a shitacular game besides all the little kids.

The last time this hapened was with major halo releases etc. If we do not put a stop to these types of games, every new OVERHYPED UNREFINED GAME release will be another period of rage in the gaming community and the not so casual but casual nonetheless people who play this expecting some sort of leisure time.

This is all coming from experience but it was a thoroughly revealing one nonetheless.

out of curiosity atticus are you referring to stabbing or throwing knife?
Stabbing. Throwing isn't as bad to me, since it actually has a learning curb, unlike commando knifing, which is super easy.

It's cool to hate it, along with Halo, Gears of War, religion and JRPG's. If you want to be loved even more then say you love TF2, Half Life and Portal.

While I am half joking it does seem that the above seems scarily accurate for a rather large amount of people on this site.
Well thats like saying its "cool" to hate Parasites,Diseases , Nazis and seeing-to-late-that-there-is-no-toiletpaper :p When you think something's bad and a lot of different persons point out the same obvious thing, then it may be that it's not "cool" but a fact *Hurrhurr*

('xept halo. i liked it ;) )
