First of all, it's spelt "seem".

Second of all, it lags, it's on a poorly programmed peer to peer network where the host selection is random rather than choosing the most suitable host. It also kicks parties from matches for no reason.
The community is mostly made up of loudmouth scouser chavs, or American fratboys, or whiney 12 year old brats, or elitist pricks who get so worked up over certain tactics.

Activision wanted to charge £55 rrp for it, shops charged £45 on average, I don't think it's even worth £30. The campaign is as short as an expansion.

Also let's look at DLC, 1200MS points (around £10) for 3 new maps and 2 revamped Call of Duty 4 maps.

Those good enough reasons?
This is just the evolution of a business. They start off with a great product for a good price. Then it's great product cheap. Then it becomes an adequate produce that's over priced. You show me a successful company that hasn't followed they same path of evolution and I'll show you an idiot.

Ti's still a better game than most dispite it's obvious game flaws which I haven't heard one this site yet. everyone is complaining about the players and not the game itself.

It's cool to hate it, along with Gears of War and religion If you want to be loved even more then say you love TF2, Half Life and Portal.

While I am half joking it does seem that the above seems scarily accurate for a rather large amount of people on this site.

I never saw the massive interest in CoD 4 as justified when i played the single player.
I played multiplayer n it was spawn, sniped, spawn, sniped etc over n over so I gave up on that.
I expected MW2 to be more of the same, so I don't hate as much as I don't see what the fuss is about

I hate it because it's watered down FPS. FPS with training wheels. FPS for the masses. I have been playing these games since they pretty much existed. In one where a variety of skills are required, i.e. a traditional arena or corridor death match, I will go often go 10 to 1 or better with near or over 100 kills in a short round. There's a method to it. There's a pattern. There's a mental timer and positional estimator. There's twitch.

In the new skool. None of this is required. The flash ads where you have to click the dancing kitty to win a prize, because any moron can do it- sniping in the new skool. Same god damn thing. You took out the element of movement. You took out the corridors and arenas and replaced them guys in ghille suits and bushes. They don't have to move and you aren't supposed to see them.

Skill? Or gimmicky mechanic to level the playing field to make FPS marketable to EVERYONE.

Thats one example.

The bottom line is FPS games don't play like they used because FPS games used to be FUCKING BRUTAL. If you couldn't play, couldn't be bothered to learn, you went home butt hurt, crying rage quit, etc. You went back to whatever rock you came from under. You didn't buy more FPS games.

That's it. That's all it is. The sloppy class based play that creates an environment where any idiot can get his share of the kills exists because of simple economics. It's not hardcore. It's not skillful. It's a fucking business.

This is the real answer and no one ever gets it.

i like modern warfare 2 and that 12-year old argument is extremely lacking. I play on the PC and i have encountered maybe 3+ vocal 12 year olds the others just seem to not say anything, so yeah ...

The worst part is the paper that flies around. Pretty sure IRL paper doesn't have that much an updraft and it settles pretty quickly.

Hahaha yeah, if you like being spawn camped by people with akimbo G18s or sniped with a M4, or my absolute favorite fucking part! Endure all the wonderful hackers and cheaters :D Yaaay! 9/10 is filled with cheaters. That just creates a haven for people who seek a challenge now isn't it
I love being spawn-camped or sniped with an M4.
Because spawn-camping happens all the time in that game (no, it doesn't) and sniping is unfair and makes the game unbalanced.
And I have encountered so many cheaters that I've lost count.

EDIT: Awaiting Furbs comment so I can rage at him.
I wouldn't want to disappoint you!

OP: The game is very unbalanced multiplayer wise, due to them stuffing everything they could think of in haphazardly, the publishers fucked over the PC, the story managed to be both bland and over dramatic, while at the same time being almost totally incomprehensible. The story mode is way too short for a game of this price, and since I don't play MP much, this is bad for me, especially since it's a tenner more expensive. Plus, the community I've encountered has to be one of the worst I've ever seen, and I can't change that like in other games, because guess what? No dedicated servers.

In conclusion, an average to bad game that's getting an inordinate amount of hype because it's got money behind it.
You just managed to sum up everything I hate about the game better than I can.

I played the PC version and I didn't notice.
This is the thing, it's not that they made the pc version worse then the console version, it's that they made it the SAME. Pc gaming has different needs than console gaming, and they where being too cheap with their ports to care about it, and they raised the price. You know the saying "less is more."? Well, I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to PAY for the less. That said you do have a few good points, it is entirely your opinion and I think you are getting too much hate on this thread for your honest opinion on the matter.

I only buy games for offline playability (I can't stand playing online...)

It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't for me. Though I don't have any problem with people liking games, sometimes stuff just gets to me (Like people saying it's the greatest game ever/it DEFINES the genre)

because IW and Activision have basically told the Online PC community to 'Go Sod Off'.

unlike developers like Valve, Bethesda, and others which support their online communities and be open with them... IW has largely ignored the community and withdrawn much support that we have seen in previous titles of the games, with the loss of Dedicated servers, and a very poor User interface which works at ends with the in game P2P system. i mean, hell, MW2 doesn't even have an SDK, and from the looks of it, they might not even release one.

now from a humble point of view from a player that doesn't get online and plays the single player and a few of the challenges... all these arguments are largely unnoticable.

but then again... if you get into a car because of the air conditioning alone, you might not notice that it has 4 flat tires.

I just think it's very overrated, but I enjoyed the campaign (once, not much replayability to be honest). Mind you I still think the game kind of plays itself, it's more of a rail shooter that requires you to press a key to move.

I liked it, had a lot of fun with the multilayer when I played it with my friends, but it got old after awhile
